I've started playing the game I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. People need to play this. And if one were to finish the game and spot just a little of that hatred and love of torture that AM the main antagonist has; maybe it is time to reconsider why you have to be right all the time.

I went through that awhile back. There are still people I speak to that assume I agree with everything they said because they thought that was where the conversation was leading. Sorry, but just because I didn't agree with you completely or made points why you were mistaken doesn't make me bad.

We are all individuals, even if we are products of our environment, we still have life experiences that are different from each other.

Communication from one human to another human means dealing with discussing subjects you don't agree with and don't see eye to eye on. Even if any of the humans identify as something other than human. I've seen a story where a woman said she was a cat. She's not harming anybody and she's not expecting anyone to take care of her. She just loves cat and acting as one.

AB2012: I did find it strange at first, but I don't think it's random at all given the people affected the most are the ones that either constantly talk about politics the most, start political threads or have political avatars / subheadings under their names.

LootHunter: Well, my reputation goes down even if I don't post any comments whatsoever. Either it's a forum bug, or some really vindictive folks - I don't know. So, that's the reason, why I participate in political discussions without any reservations - if my rep will always be negative anyway, why I should hold back my opinion against those self-righteous "social justice" hypocrites?

paladin181: Time to face the unpleasant reality that many people don't care if you like Trump or Alex Jones, or if you follow the outrage mob on twitter and think Gay and transgender rights are the most important issues ever. The people getting downvoted think we care, and are upset to learn their opinion on such matters isn't wanted. Many people here don't give two rats fucking about your political leaning or how you spend your free time. We want to talk about games and gaming. It's not counter productive to us. Call me hypocritical for participating in such threads in the past. I still do sometimes. But the reality is that if they weren't there, I wouldn't be making them. The same is true of A LOT of forum goers. I know who I talk to, if I want to learn more about them, I'll Chat them. Ask TinyE. We talk. And despite the fact that our political tendencies are very different, we can still agree on many things.

But most of the people here who post flamebait threads to try and force feed their political agenda down the throats of others here then complain about being downvoted and about freedom of speech. Freedom of speech means you can say what you want. Others are allowed to think you an asshole, and express their freedom of speech to tell you.

kai2: IMHO voting on reputation is only relevant as a way for GOG to "enlist" users to take up moderation's under-staffing slack. It was obviously meant to alert GOG's small moderation staff to flashpoints -- harassment, bullying, and consistent anti-community behavior -- but probably was never meant to denote simple disagreements or differences of opinion. But -- in most cases I've seen (and in my experience) -- that's exactly how it's predominantly being used.

As I see it, GOG should make contacting a mod regarding harassment, bullying, and "destructive" behavior much easier (maybe a button for mod review?), but any problem should be directly between a mod the focus of the complaint (unless moderation sees a need for public understanding of the situation), and certainly not in a reputation system.

Personally, the reputation system has made me ambivalent toward sharing anything on this board. When I share a personal post and watch my reputation slide, it saps all interest in continuing.

Lazarus_03: While I can sympathize on some targeted users, I can also understand why some garnered the downvotes.
It doesn't look that strange when you could - at the very least, partially tell the reasoning behind those reds.
I wouldn't elaborate further as it would appear as if I'm throwing targeted rocks at those people.
I'd just keep the distance away and move along.
