Enebias: I'm disgusted by Night Dive.
Once again they prove to be parasites, going even lower than the lowest pirate on the internet.
Because no matter how they turn it with sweet words, they STOLE the scummVM version people worked hard to prepare for 10 years and they'r enow profiting on it without anybody's consensus.

Never again will I buy anything related to that bunch of creatively bankrupt profitering and thieving scum. This is even WORSE than Bethesda's paid mods.

Ruvika: This is a little bit complicated, the problem is that ScummVM is a tool for everyone under GPL, so anyone can use it and even bundle it and sell it if they have the rights of distribution of certain game, just like they do with DOSBox. Now, yes they diserve some credit at least, I know that GOG is a sponsor of both ScummVM and DOSBox, so in the end they make a contribution, I dont know if ND does the same.
Yet another example of law being completely detatched from fairness and serving only those who are already advantaged.
Chains for slaves, keys for slavers.

Even if it was completely legal, I still think they're scumbags, leeches and thieves - after all, it's the very same thing I think of the entire stock market, and there's nothing illegal in that.

MarkoH01: At least the higher price is still exclusive ;)

mrkgnao: That's a regional pricing thing. In the US and most of the world, the price is the same ($10) on both steam and GOG.
Interesting. This would mean that NIghtdive decided to use regional pricing on GOG but not on Steam ... does not really make it better for me.
So if I use ScummVM's affiliate link they'll still get a small commission, right?

Be careful what you post openly, people. I just wanted to quote something fom the tweet from Thomas Fach-Perdersen and noticed the tweet was gone. Instead you can only see the following now:

"People have been using my airing of grievances to harass Nightdive employees.
This is completely unacceptable and because of that I have deleted my tweets."

No, it's still regional pricing. It's just more expensive on GOG than on Steam for... reasons.

According to this (https://new.isthereanydeal.com/game/bladerunnerenhancededition/regions/), the game is regionally priced on both GOG and steam.

The base price is $9.99 on both. The EU price $10.55 on GOG and $8.65 on steam.

Isn't that what you see?

No, it's not that at all. Anyone releasing anything under GPL does so knowing full well what it means. It's completely fair if anyone uses that code for any reason whatsoever, as long as they abide by the terms of the GPL license. If you don't want that, don't use GPL, simple.

I hope by "enhanced" it doesn't mean they omit the good things in the game that made it a classic in the fiirst place like that brain fart "Mass Effect "legendary" crap. the pollitically offended can just pack up their PCs and stop pretending to be gamers and quit playing games! Now as for the rest of us, I think enhanced should mean enhanced graphics and sound and complatiblity with Windows 11, notihng more.
now the way they did Daggerfall Uniity THAT is the way to do it! leaving in the real atmosphere instead of cutzie-glitzing the graphics into some over engineered "3D graphics" japanese anima graphic novel look which I am so sick of! That and also giving player choice in configuring which enhancements are used/which not.
looks like I'll pass. the reviews are stating just as I predicted they would. another sawed off attempt to "enhance" using "antialiasing technology" and totally missing the point! less style more over thought garbage by devs too young to even have a clue how to make a game!

Today i decided I would change my mind and buy it after all.
But first I would check out comments and reviews again.

But boy oh boy did that re-confirm my original decision, so nope not at the current 50% price.
Not paying that much to just check what all the fuss is about, I'll just stick to the original.

I had been thinking that Nightdive might fix the issues sooner rather than later, but from what I have read, the history etc, I doubt they will fix anything at all, and they appear to have done wrong by the ScummVM folks.

I can live with the original version .... it's a classic piece of gaming history after all.

I'd probably prefer a Remake rather than Enhancement anyway ... provided it was done properly.
What bothers me the most in htis mess is, that I cannot buy the ScummVM version alone anymore. I had it on the wishlist, but it is gone now. I would be forced to buy the Nightdive version as well, but I want to vote with my wallet. That is in this case not give Nightdive Studios my money. It looks like their version is the inferior product and being coerced to buy it bundled with the ScummVM version I actually want is not a good move. So I will abstain from buying any of the two and watch what is going to happen next.

Don't worry, GOG is on the case!
They've decided to fix the issue... by deleting all the negative reviews.
All the reviews in the attached image have been deleted.

Same here. I don't want to pay for the Enhanced Edition because I don't want to condone it.
Night Dive's reputation keeps diving with everything they do. I don't have high hopes for System Shock remake, if it ever comes out.

There's a screengrab doing the rounds if you know where to look, so that didn't even work.

Great that you posted the link to the screenshots. This way everyone can see that most of these reviews DO NOT violate GOGs review guidelines and are truly actual opinions about the game itself. Some few might not count as valid reviews but most actually are describing the game and why they dislike it.

@GOG: What is the reason that you deleted perfectly valid reviews? If this is the way critical reviews are handled I don't see any sense anymore to post reviews here on GOG. We take our time to post such reviews (well most do) so please be so fair and explain yourself here.
