please just let me use WASD for movements, yes I know you are a platformer, and you have told me twice you would prefer it if I used a controler.... is that why you are forcing me to use the arrow keys? is it a form of punishment?

DRM and telemetry are orthogonal. Opt-in telemetry (obviously implemented in a way that is fully anonymous and doesn't risk the game breaking because of it) can considerably improve games for future updates (if they're collecting and looking at the right data).

mqstout: * Clear text. Even if you're doing a pixel art, low-fi game, do good text.
Also, make it easier to compare numbers.

(The Bard's Tale trilogy remaster has a problem with them, due to using a variable width font for numbers. In that game, 1111 looks smaller than something like 666, making the comparison a lot harder than it should be. Numbers really should use a fixed width font, and should remain in the same position on-screen regardless of the length of character names.)

cryware: Great thread and I agree with all of you. A few additions to the already said:
-Stop marketing unreal features/dates
-No DRM/telemetry. Please respect me as a client
-Offline installers
-Smart downloads: localization stuff (voice), Hi resolution textures.
-Stop DLCs (chopped games)
-Stop loot boxes/grinding practices
-Stop countless versions of the same game (The other day my curiosity on Ubisoft's store died instantly when I saw gold, director's, platinum, final editions...)
-More co-op games please! (second player)
-Optimized resources (hdd, sys reqs, bandwidth)
-Focus on Immersion: Localization, voices, remap controls, skip/fforward/rewind... all of them are welcomed
-Manuals/Tutorials/How2s: Please be inventive... not just throw a pdf to me (if I am lucky)
-Multi platform
-Cross play
-Advanced configuration menu (A nerds menu: a real black hole where any obscure/rare setting you can think of fits)
-Advanced subtitles menu (font, size, position)

Is it gonna be expensive & difficult? Yes, probably sure. But this can be diluted in several key players:
-All those standard game engines could take care/responsibility on some points
-Other tasks could be even attended by the fans (e.g translate subtitles) -if and only if- the game/developers would use/implement open standards...
-And finally, when unavoidable, they will simply fall into the final asking price...
this has nothing to do with this topic

nightcraw1er.488: It’s a wonder anyone is able to do anything nowadays. Perhaps each game should ship with a robot to play it for you?

pds41: I know what you mean. I've got a medical condition which means that I'm not allowed to go scuba diving. This sucks, because I'd quite like to dive in the tropics and it's not my fault that I cannot. Decrying precision mouse control because some people have accessibility issues is very much like me saying "I can't go diving, so nobody else should be allowed to either because it's not accessible to me".
The way I see it, it's OK to have precision mouse control as an option, but it should not be the *only* option.

The SNK collection actually does this, with the added feature of being able to take over at any moment.

(Note that this only apples to US region games, not to JP region, and only applies to Arcade versions except for the two Console only games.)

Most of these aren't Quality of Life features.

mqstout: Which leads me to another one: It'd be nice of games supported more than LMB, RMB, MMB, and scrollup-down, for those of us who do have more. I wish I could do without the "mouse software", but I need it since a lot of even newer games don't recognose MB4, MB5, MB6, MB7 to be mapped. (And I've seen plenty of people upset about scroll-left, scroll-right not being supported; I don't have that in my device but could imagine I'd like it.)
One other advantage is that this may allow more games to be played with mouse only, which would be good for some one-handed gamers.

Digit separation. Nioh uses a half-width space across 3 characters, and it's a pain to read, especially since XP goes into the billions and it uses a variable-width font. I understand digit segmenting is a localization issue, but it can be handled.

It still surprises me that most games don't just do an OpenTTD and just let you set the separators, currency, and what have you.

Thing is, if we exclude things like mincrotransactions and other real money transactions, currency is realyl something that's specific to the game world, not the real world. For example, in a Final Fantasy game, the currency is always going to be gil, regardless of region. (Excluding pre-FF7 western releases which called the currency gold, but it's still not dollars or something like that.)

I think that was an original Transport Tycoon feature and agreed. It adds nothing to a game to force you to accept a single currency/localisation. It would do my head in if the decimal and commas were the wrong way round (and I'm sure my German friends would prefer that they were the wrong way round!)

Oh, don’t get me started. Try getting a CSV, that’s a Comma Separated Variable file from France where they believe it means semicolon delimited file. FFS the clue is in the title! Sorry, minor work annoyance rant :o)

Hah. I have it set up in my current OpenTTD setup to have ¤ as the symbol and "bolts" as the name, with ' as the separator and an exchange rate somewhere in the Yen range of 0s. Really, ¤ is an underutilized symbol.
1. fighting genre

this year i have dabbled a bit again in the monsters of fighting games such as Tekken 7 and Death or Alive 5, while they are somewhat older games i do expect next titles to at least provide a sound quality on par with their triple A brothers you can find in the action genre. and this might be a bit wrong but it seems Bandai Namco really really needs to up their game in that particular segment of gaming experience

2. Grand Strategy

A.I.

More adaptiveness, more creativity ... is this QOL ? while stretching it towards an limit that might not even exist i say Yes. there is nothing so game breaking as
- repeated diplomatic requests asking for the same turns in a row
- Odd strategic behavior that while might be supported by history with 7 year old Leaders and such should at least be provided with a proper background ( this option falls actually into multiple segments, lets call it logical background ..)

Turn Based Tactics

More controller options, While the asian produced games often produce expect the use of a controller western games sometimes do not include this option ( this may have to do with them being indie productions

I will hate established studio's for forgetting and feel awe for the indie developer with a brilliant idea forgiving almost everything with a great gameplay implementation

Zimerius: Bandai Namco
You know, one thing I noticed about the latest installation of Smash Bros (where Bamco is the lead dev) is that nobody I know in the circles has ever raved, "WOW, THIS REMIX ROCKS!".
repeated diplomatic requests asking for the same turns in a row
And commonly, suffering diplomatic penalties for turning down absurd requests.
