Yes.

Great, more free copies of games you can't even give away.
I bought the Witcher 3 addon during the Steam paid mod incident, as a reward for the admirable behaviour of GOG (as proven once again today). Originally I hadn'ty have any interest in the addon as Witcher 3 alone would offer me more than enough content.

Due to my backlog I won't be able to play Witcher 3 anytime soon. I hope the addon will be available once I will start. I also have Skyrim in my backlog which I really should play before Witcher 3. When you have crossed the Witcher 3 line, there is no way back.

Long story short, I have to Witcher keys to give away. First come, first serve.

The announcement literally says you may give them away.

heh, mine just went to some gifting thread, too :) still nice to spread the witcher love ;D

Also I think the promo for a preorder is justified to get enough money for developing that expansion. (preordering is like kickstarting, right?)
"Can't" meaning, everyone already has them from the 3000 other free promos where they were given away.
Are these Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 the Enhanced versions?

Looking beyond your nose is hard, I know. Think about this: The regular GOG-costumer is perhaps not the main target of this promotion...

Skywalkerpl: Really? From all my friends I'm the only one who owns all 3 games. Most of the people got only Witcher 3.
...because this is the reality. The mass of people didn't even know of GOG or the Witcher before the third installment or were at least not very intrigued.
I think this would be a more effective promotion if it applied to people who bought the season pass on consoles. It's very likely that people playing TW3 on PC already owns the first two games. However, many people playing TW3 on Xbone or PS4 won't have, certainly not if they only game on consoles since on TW2 would have been available to them and only to Xbox 360 owners as well. It would be a way to get the huge audience of those consoles into GOG.

I say this as someone who's probably a bit of an exception to what I've said above. I own the first two games on PC but am playing TW3 on PS4 since my PC couldn't hope to run TW3. I'm sure there's other people like me, but the majority of people who played TW1 and TW2 will be playing TW3 on PC. GOG giving away TW1 and TW2 to PC gamers feels like when Valve give away Half-Life 2 on Steam.

mchack: (preordering is like kickstarting, right?)
Eh, kind of. It will happen without preorders whereas a Kickstarted game is depending on that funding. That said, there's some similarity in that it's a guaranteed* income for the developers which makes spending all those months working a lot more safe.

* Guaranteed-ish, a number of backers in every Kickstarter actually drop out and don't go through with the payment. Kickstarters earn less tha what the website total shows thanks to that.

Well, I'm not going to complain about other people getting free stuff. That is always a good thing.

But, if the lovely folks at gog wanted to make everybody happy they could just give a discount on the DLCs for those of us who already own The Witcher 1 &/or 2.

It wouldn't exactly be hard to do. Just make it 25% off if you only own one of the games (and you get the other one free), and 50% off if you already own both. With the option to choose giftable copies of the games if for some bizarre reason you'd rather have that than the discount.

Ta da. Everybody is happy (of course someone will still find something to gripe about but whatever).
I'm not seeing the codes for Witcher 1 & 2 in the GOG Galaxy interface.

Yes. The very same one currently available on GOG.com for $9.99 and $19.99 respectively.
BTW, this was NOT the first time Witcher 2 was free on GOG. There was a promotion a while back if you clicked on a thing everyday for 7 days you got Witcher 2 for free here.
