Looks to be somewhat lovecraftian expansion :) Looks and sounds quite enticing, especially if to consider that developers no longer planned to release expansions for Everquests.

I so much wish for single-player game like EverQuest II, with such a size of world, zones, quests, dungeons, everything being hand-crafted. Sadly, I can't come back to MMOs as they take too much control over the game out of players' hands. Each time I read some MMO forum, I keep getting reminded about all the negative sides of MMO gaming.

I wonder did anyone try to reconstruct Everquest (or other MMO) worlds in something like Morrowind engine (or some different engine).

You mention Morrowind; that's probably your best bet. With the enormous areas unlocked in Tamriel Rebuilt, coupled with the Mournhold and Solstheim expansion areas, you've got a tremendous lot of game to explore. Skyrim, as well, with some of the bigger expansions like Falskaar ends up with enormous area to explore.

Other than that, for handcrafted worlds, I can't think of anything else in single-player. Maybe - though it would feel quite different - Baldur's Gate TuTu, which merges 1 and 2 and the expansions for both. Or the Das Schwarze Auge trilogy of games from the 90s, taken all together.

I will look in Tamriel Rebuilt project, sounds interesting.. Skyrim is out of the question because of level-scaling (though I heard there is mod to remove it), DRM and I doubt my PC will be able to handle it well. Baldur's Gate are actually quite small games. If you played Everquest II and saw dungeons like Solusek's Eye, that dungeon alone is probably bigger than any BG game. Variety of items, armor and depth of character progress is also not there.

Well, size isn't everything. What annoys me about single player RPGs is that you can be, for instance, walking through a room with piles of gold, or armour, none of which is interactive. Or BG, where there are non-interactive doors. I would like to see a more interactive detailed landscape, than one that goes on for another 25k miles. The ES games do have that to some level where you can pick up various bits.

Daggerfall is bigger in its world mass and dungeons. Sadly, it doesn't really catch up in terms of items, crafts, monsters and such things. It made me wonder if Morrowind could fit in one WoW zone or it would require more? Is it smaller than Ulduar entrance (up to Flame Leviathan) or bigger? Morrowind feels big mostly because traveling speed is quite slow.

If you think Morrowind is small than you have not yet been to Solstheim.

Can someone tell me, why Everquest II is still being played? Isn't WOW superior compared to it in every way?

Crafting, Guild Houses, AAs, a lot of other things are several heads above WoW.

Everquest II isn't widely played because of weak marketing and it required PC from the future when it was released.

At a guess, I think Morrowind with both official expansions is about as large as either (but not both) of the main continents in vanilla WoW. Even with a fast movement speed, it's quite large and dense. Density matters a lot, since for example while Ungoro or Blasted Lands were large, there was fuck all to do in them in vanilla WoW. I think Un'Goro, especially, took about an hour to wrap up even if you did the pylon quests.

Morrowind feels big because of fog. Mods that increase the view distance like mge reveal the map's short comings. The game is still pretty big though and looks great with some visual mods. But it is not huge like the Witcher 3 even.
