BreOl72: I mean, from GOG's perspective, the forum must be a constant PITA. Nothing but complaints, full of spammers,...reducing the offer will kinda be a logical step.
AB2012: I think some people over-focus on a few negative posts so much that's all they end up seeing. Merely browsing the first two pages (100 threads) right now, there's a ton of Forum Games, "what are you reading", "Games / Books finished in 2023", generous giveaway threads, etc. Many "complaining" posts are actually asking for help with an issue and many of us do help them out week after week, year after year both in this General Forum and 10x more in the game specific forums. Take that away, and there'd be a lot more filing of support tickets. (Add up all the thousands of
"This question / problem has been solved by..." posts there have been over the years, and I doubt what GOG spends on the forums is more than the cost of having to hire more support staff to deal with the increase in support tickets due to killing off free (for GOG) peer support.
Likewise for those who think it's a good idea, I hope you're volunteering to take-over the duties of the regulars here maintaining half a dozen "What did just update", giveaway tracking, DRM testing, OS compatibility testing, price change tracking,
changelog reposting,
ciemnogrodzianin's endlessly useful sale summary, etc, threads as well as match the sheer generosity of Doc0075 alone, as I don't see many on Reddit or Discord putting in half the effort some forum members do here despite regular unconvincing claims of being
"better" places to hang out. ;-)
I agree. I feel like I see more posts mentioning the negativity here on the forums than I actually see negative posts.
