I didn't see anyone posting about this yet, so...
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/aug/31/eu-recommend-member-states-abolish-daylight-saving-time
Wow, about the damn time, if this will come true eventually Routinely changing clocks twice a year is just stupid.
Now the open question is whether the idea would be to stay in "summer time" or "winter time" (=normal time)? I guess it just depends when that new rule would come into effect, in the summer or winter. It would take years anyway before this would materialize, all member states needing to ok it in their parliaments I guess etc.
In the end I presume it doesn't matter whether "EU" stays in summer or winter time, as to my understanding each member state can decide to which timezone they belong to. What I am hoping for to happen is:
1. The change takes place during summer, and whole of EU stays in summertime.
2. Finland (and Baltic countries, and Greece etc.) decide to move to normal time (winter time).
Ga-zinnnng! Whole EU is in the same timezone, plus Finland gets to stay in the normal time which is what I prefer. It is a win win situation to me, having the same timezone as the whole of Europe, plus waking up one hour later throughout the year.
