I have a bunch of their free games. All of them still work after uninstalling the launcher. Some of those just need something added to the shortcut, but then can be just zipped up for archival or playing on some other (offline or not) computer.

I'm sure you can find some mastersystem games with the same gameplay for free too. Like Steam did by undercutting everywhere else and crippling disc games.

That's good to hear but unless they commit 100% to DRM-free software, that still won't do it for me. However, I wouldn't mind if Epic took a chunk out of Steam's market share!

What are these games that are so expensive? last I checked, they have the same sale price as other stores.

What does this have to do with DRM free but requiring client? What benefit is there to installing on another partition?

Any advice for installing Epics launcher under Linux? Is there any way to install and use their games without the launcher?

Edit: for clarification, I don't know any way to download the games without the client. You need some way to install the client in order to download the games, after the download, many games can be played without the client on ANY system. As I wrote on another thread, Celeste is even portable, meaning you can use it on a pen drive on any computer.

As far as I know Epic doesn't support Linux but if you want to download the games to play on Windows, you can try Wine or installing Windows on a Virtual Machine,
Some people don't want Epic's client on the system (me included) so you can install Epic's Client on a VM or another partition with Windows installed (Windows 10 is free to download and use, so no problem there). Just copy the installed folder to your main system and enjoy the game without the client (my way was to install on a old non-used laptop).

Rant warning: One reason probably Epic release a lot of games without DRM because the launcher will take a lot of resources (computer and internet) and cause massive hiccups. This was quite known in the Fortnite community at the very boom start were people with not top of the line computers had to shut the client in order to play smoothly, on a older laptop I've seen something like 20 to 30fps drops every ~5 seconds on roughly 60fps gameplay.
At this time the launcher seems to be quite better in that regard but I still know some hardcore Fortnite players that still close the launcher anytime they play.

For my region GOG is the most expensive one.

For 20 bucks game on GoG, Steam gives me 5 USD equivalent, Epic around 7. Now with their sales going on (Epic), I got Jedi Fallen for around 10 bucks. Can't beat that price.

is Epic Games store region-locked? Can someone confirm whether your game doesn't get locked out when you move abroad? I asked this because of the price difference between region. The game on EGS is certainly cheaper in my region (eg: $29.99 for Control).
