babark: Are you sure it is 5 minutes and not 5 turns?
Minutes seems an odd measure here.
idbeholdME: I asked Doc in chat and he responded "5 minutes" :P. Seemed weird to me too but who am I to question the DM?
Anyway, it seems that the original guess of witches is correct. I suppose it is time for me to start spamming the Reflect Spells then. Who is going to take point and engage the witches in melee? Those will be the ones who receive it.
I've seen multiple spells cast per turn before but is there an actual limit? Or can I cast 5 spells in a single turn?
"Do you hear that? There must be a cleric or a paladin up ahead, captive! We should attempt to save him!"
Witches usually come in threes, so it's safe to assume there will be at least three foes. They must be very powerful, since they managed to kill the bugbear and Holy guardian. You're right, it could be a magic barrier, Dispel Magic should work in that case.
*metagaming begins* You're right, it's a magic barrier preventing attacks (not sure about magical ones) that can be dispelled by Dispel Magic. Funnily enough, I thought the pfft sound was the witches laughing at how the barrier deflected the arrows, not the sound the barrier made when it was hit. They're not witches but hags, highly resistant to magic, and have high str/con according to DnD lore (and it seems the same or similar here according to the other thread), so they're definitively powerful.
*metagaming end* Speaking of buffs, Reflect Spells doesn't stack well with the Globe of Protection - GoP first protects/absorbs and RS works after that. So if we want RS to reflect spells, we should move out of the Globe's reach and move in after the RS stops working. Does RS wear off after it reflect the first spell, or is it unlimited for the 5 rounds? Unlike Magic Shield, which dissipated after being hit by the ward?
Since me and Smarty volunteered to take point, I'm guessing both of us don't mind engaging the enemies (I don't, as long as I don't go alone, as that would be suicidal, I think). Ideally, since you're a fighter as well, you could buff yourself and come along, and if we manage it, we could even try to free whoever is up there and aid us. Perhaps Max could try that, and give him my spare sword and shield? Clerics and paladins both can use shield/sword.
So I suggest I, Smarty, Svartalf gets Reflect Spells, and rushes the witches. And you, svartalf, dispels the magic barrier - there might be more of them, so it's better to keep the remaining 2 slots for Dispel Magic.
And Max+Babargh+anyone else could try going in to support us with more spells and if they see the victim, free him, and give him my spare sword/shield.
