gogtrial34987: @Kip: How's your armor? I'm decked out in chainmail, so if you're less well covered, maybe I should take point after all?)
Kip only has leather armour, but high dexterity. He also has high perception.
He is equipped with a short spear and a sling which shoots small fireballs!
high rated
With a look of mischief in his eyes, Roark pulls the chain on the southwest pillar. There is a huge crash further up the Eastern tunnel sending clouds of dust down into the companions faces.

Cicatrix jumps up and grabs hold of the chain on the northeast pillar, rapidly climbing. Her weight pulls the chain down faster than she can climb, landing on the ground with a thump.
There is a huge crash up the main Southern tunnel sending clouds of dust down into the companions faces.
Wild cackling can be faintly heard through the dust clouds.

Paloquin attempts to climb the chain on the northwest pillar but quickly drops to the ground when he feels it giving way under his weight. There is a huge crash up the Western tunnel sending clouds of dust down into the companions faces.

Ereanar pulls the chain by the southeast pillar. There is a huge crash up the main Northern tunnel sending clouds of dust down into the companions faces. There is also the sound of much running water splashing about. A piratey voice can be faintly heard 'Arrr me heartys! We sail again!
Ereanor quickly rushes for the South tunnel.

PMPMGamer: (Gold - Goblin Ranger)
You idea seems interesting.
Do you have any idea which group we should follow behind?

Trid: Lets fallow the orc's.

We fallow orc's in the East tunnel (in reasonable distance).
Ok.
Let's go there then.

Doc0075: Those heading North and South please confirm for me if you are using the main tunnels or the smaller side tunnels. It is not clear with everyone.

misteryo: Rizzleskiff in the smaller North-bound tunnel

Going to ask that everyone hold their questions for the moment while I try to get the updates done.

gogtrial34987: Once we know the results of the detect secrets spell and the perception check, I suggest Aslain Melemir and Kip take point, scouting for traps and ambushes respectively, with Rudy ready right behind ready to swap places with Aslain in case we encounter a fight. (@Kip: How's your armor? I'm decked out in chainmail, so if you're less well covered, maybe I should take point after all?) Dunward has a... dart thrower, was it? so can safely stay away from the front line. I will cover our rear (or Kip can, depending on the armor situation), in case the fire trap wasn't enough. We will definitely leave enough room between ourselves so we can easily maneuver and swap places.

gogtrial34987: Og'rialt the Dwarven Brigand speaks up, "Dear companions, I must still have been groggy from whatever magic transferred us here, as I only just now realized that I've had my spiked chain looped around my waist all this time! With it, I can strike out quite far, so will be effective fighting from right behind the front line. That means that I would be more effective near the front after all, as we'll then have three front-line fighters in a tunnel where any enemies would only expect two!"

@Aslain, I've been assuming that you need to be on point to detect traps, but do you actually, or are you perceptive enough to do so from behind?
@Og'rialt "I have the best perception only second to that Drizzt guy... But given the fact I have these two beatifully crafted fire damage dealing short swords I can handle the second or front lines with ease".

ConsulCaesar: Strigon is the only Drow in the Western tunnel. Perhaps we can find a way to make good use of him -and find a formation to minimize the malus to Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Halflings and maximize their bonus while standing next to Half-Orcs (we've got two) and Goblins.
If my notes are correct, there are 4 Drows, who haven't decided on what to do yet. We might get more Drow company. At least there seems to be neither water + piratey voices nor wild cackling in our tunnel. But the quite has me worried what we might have in our tunnel up ahead. I doubt it's nothing/nothing serious. Maybe a dead end?

Suddenly a crash can be heard and another and another and a fourth. When something in "our" tunnel, the West Tunnel caves in, shortly after we are all engulfed in a cloud of dust. It is hard to breath and my eyes tear up, while I cough violently and my eyes try to get rid of the dirt in them. Are we trapped now? I can't see anything.

Companions within the Northen tunnel!

Let us consider escape from this sudden surge of water by fleeing into the smaller tunnel to the north if the water level rises too high or its swiftness impedes our progress.

Hah, I love the descriptions, it's just like playing ADOM (or other roguelikes). Have you played those by chance?

blastradius: Valius, Elven Battlemage, watches the others carefully. The noise of the grate tells him he should get out of here fast, and the south tunnels look about as good a starting point as any to get out of here. Although he wants to start exploring, he believes it's a good idea to gather a party before venturing forth. He sees a few parties gathering quickly already and a rather imposing force of half orcs near the south tunnels.

"Hail, half orcs. Would you have a need of a mage in your ranks? Any good party needs a good mage. I can fight pretty well too, my broadsword Armavel hasn't failed me in battle yet."
avatar
cardangrille: Cardan is okay with you in party, little elf friend. Balbok and Pater Alf good with mage also?

Cardan thinks we must go into dungeon now before scaly things come, big tunnels to east looks good point to start
*sniff, sniff*

Not-Orc smells and looks strange. But seems to be funny and can do tricks with his hands and staff. Can join. Me thinks we should leave big room. Something evil is coming.

Edit: Oh, tunnels collapsed. Maybe us can not leave big room.

Gar goesz east Tunel

But then
Gar sees Thelis and dislike him at first sight. He sneaks up behind Thelis and slashes at Thelis arms and thus maiming him. Thelis now has no arms and bleeding profusely, he say

"Sorry, Thelis but I just dont like you"

Gar is crazy so he slashes at thelis arm again. But is pointless.

"Bye" He said

Doc wrote "up the Western Tunnel". I understand that as the direction we want to head in, not the direction we come from. So that tunnel could be a dead end if it caved in completely and we might have to choose a different one or face whatever is coming through the metal grate.

jonridan: Aslain Melemir (Elven Thief)
Ok, then I say let's take Aslain take point together with Beldarion. I'll stay right behind, and Kip and Sulibor can stay in back with their ranged weapons.

Given the mayhem currently ensuing in the main tunnels, we move out as soon as our intelligence gathering has resolved (assuming they show all clear). I dearly hope the main tunnels aren't blocked, otherwise there's going to be a flood of people trying to get into our tunnel, and well, I like to think of myself as a pretty nice dwarf, but there's no way I'm nice enough to stay behind and show each of them how to avoid my fire trap!

MaxFulvus: Ok for me to follow the main south tunnel. As a formation, I suggest :

WarriorlThieflBattlemage
ClericlRangerlPaladin

Considering I need to detect traps or secrets areas, I'm obliged to stay in front. I have a Battleaxe, so I don't fear close combat, but not a heavy protection, so to be under Babargh's Globe of Protection would be great.
I can be at the front too. I'm clad in a Mithril Chanimail and wielding a War Hammer. My spells are mostly defensive in nature. My only offensive spell is a Fireball.

I'd say, I agree with this formation. Where do we place the guardian?
