I just came across the add for the "Enhanced" Bladerunner game. Now I've already purchased this game from GOG and it played fine for my old laptop. Now I have a decent gaming PC, but I'm not convinced about these Enhanced games. The comment thread seems to think so as well.

My question is mainly about the Original Baldur's Gate game. How come you can get the Original game as well as Enhanced on Steam but GOG only sells the Enhanced? Is it a licensing thing? I would more than likely buy the original Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 if they could just be the original games tweaked to work on Windows 11.

Any information on this would be helpful.

Beamdog had the original games removed and bundled them with their inferior version because they knew that as long as they are available, hardly anyone would buy it otherwise.

More so, Steam doesn't include originals with EE at all.

When a game is delisted from their store, there are still options to buy them as long as the store page for a game can still be accessed using the sub-ID, which can be found on SteamDB.info. This isn't the case for any of the individual versions of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Dungeons & Dragons Anthology: The Master Collection, and other editions containing them.

Owners of a delisted game should also still have access to the store page, and hence be able to purchase it as a gift. Lastly, using (CD-)keys or spare Steam keys is the only remaining option to obtain the digital versions.

Physical editions can still be purchased, for instance, the Baldur's Gate Compilation published by NAMCO Bandai.

Only the Enhanced Edition is still available for sale, both on GOG and Steam.

On GOG you get the original edition of the game "for free" for buying the Enhanced Edition. On Steam you do not.

This is the so called "Steam can not be inferior-policy", because Steam users knows pretty well... providing only the very best version, and no other, is a bonus.
