I love that word! Seriously, I do; ever since it was the word of the day back in my high school creative writing class some 16 years ago. It also seems to be the only one that has gotten stuck in mind that way.

I guess it's because of the common positive connotation of "ultimate" and people end up using penultimate in the same manner.

As for me - I've definitely picked up a lot of words over the years on the GOG forums (and the truth is that one of the main reasons I want to stay active here is because I get to improve my English while discussing things I care about) but sadly I can't think of a specific word I've learned here right now. Although, I *think* "viable" is a word I only started using after I read it numerous times here and looked it up.

The pun was intended :-) Frankly, the expression 'polish your English' is quite popular in Poland, for instance it's often used in advertisements of English courses.
