I have the A.D. 2044 game and it includes 2 other games: Sołtys and Skaut Kwatermaster. When I go to download them from the A.D. 2044 page, I set the language to English and download the games, but they're not in English! What gives?

If I had to guess, there's a language setup hiding somewhere.
Yeah, there is no English version of Skaut Kwatermaster. ENG version of Soltys available here - https://www.scummvm.org/games/#soltys
So why does it say English in the language option when I download it?
Dunno, probably a mistake on GOG part.

Because the base game is in English. The expansions are clearly marked with "(PL)" which... you know... stands for "Polish".

The expansions never had any official English translations.
Oh, I didn't know what PL meant.

That's also why they're presented as extras for another (shitty) game, rather than having proper library entries of their own.
Oh wow, I'd forgotten about this.

The plot summary is embarrassing, like it was written by some 15 year old 'meninist'.

It was lightly based on Polish comedy movie, Seksmisja, which is cult classic here in Poland.

To be fair, I have no idea if the game is a childish mess or if it's just GOG's description of it that makes it sound that way (although looking at the screenshots I'm more inclined to think the former). The film sounds a bit more interesting at least, but I'm guessing the game just has the basic premise?

EDIT: I need to read more carefully.

From what I've read, the film that the game cribbed from at least had a certain amount of wit, as well as being a veiled political allegory that makes it more interesting when viewed in the proper context; the game, by contrast, is apparently pretty cringeworthy even when viewed in the same light as the film -- I'm given to understand that the satirical subtext of the film was missed or ignored when adapting its basic concept for the game.

Also, I literally just now learned that this version of A.D. 2044 is a remake of game from a few years earlier called A.D. 2044: Seksmisja.

Yes. This original game was released on Atari 8-bit - it had really nice graphics at that time but that's also the reason the whole story was generally simplified.

AFAIK Windows edition is still closer to that game than to the movie.

Also, in those days, games were "for kids", so they probably figured no one would miss the subtle social commentary being left out. Little did they know how the resulting game would come across a quarter century later. =D
I don't see what the problem is. I mean frankly, it's speculative fiction, so it's all about wondering what if things were that way, but not necessarily suggesting that they actually are.
