1, You used your work email address, and got fired or changed workplace. (Some of my friends still occasionally send me emails to my old workplace address where I worked like 5 years ago...).

2, You used some smaller email provider which have decided to stop the email service because meh.

3. Some other reason.

I think #3 is the most common one.

Frankly, I do have a couple of semi-temporary hotmail.com-accounts I hadn't accessed for years, yet I had used them to register to some online forums and online stores. I think both accounts were in a frozen state but I was able to reactivate them.

However, now I will not easily miss anything in those accounts as I added them to Thunderbird along with my more actively used email accounts, so I will see if anything comes to those accounts whenever i run Thunderbird.

I hardly ever read any emails in my gmail account either, the one that I have on my Android phone. I think the only emails I get in there are security notices from Google.

"Why would anyone need several email accounts?" Well, in my case I decided to create one or two "trash accounts" that I can use to register to some sites or forums that I wasn't sure how they will use my email account, e.g. like sending lots of spam into it.

Also, naturally I have my work email account, then I have a "professional private email" which I use in LinkedIn and such services, and then I have a more generic private email which I most widely share with my friends, relatives, people who say they need my email address etc.

Never got a #ticketnr or automatic email reply. Just a successful confirmation message on the top browser window after submitting the contact form.

Hmm, well if I remember correctly it used to be possible to make a new account here without verifying the address. There were problems in the past when people literally managed to misspell their own email address and then weren't able to receive password reset emails later on. I don't know if such a thing is still possible or if you actually require verification now.

You haven't provided enough information for Google to verify that you really own the account.
