fortune_p_dawg: i discovered these games accidentally on a friend's computer back in the late summer of 1995. had no idea what they were at the time, but they were different, and different is good. hardly got to play them tho, so i'd definitely pick them up here.
Cadaver747: I discovered Elvira games on my "IBM PC compatible" computer and also on some cassette for ZX Spectrum. The games were good looking and very hard, I always died and decided to let it go. Could try them now since I know a few words in English and can understand what is happening there. Elvira games would be a worthy addition to gamer's catalog.
I'm shocked as you seem to be quite fluent in our replies back and forth.....are you using on then fly google translate or what? :D
samuraigaiden: I'd much rather have Dark Seed 1 + 2
Many sites(such as one I use for such things) have working/stable versions of both games.....I would even recommend them as afaik no one is seling them atm anyways.
tomimt: I suspect the licensing rights for Giger's works are the obstacle there.
Anime-BlackWolf: You suspect right. There were already infos about that, the Giger estate wants horrendous licensing royalties. Maybo you can even google that article...
And this is why I do NOT support massively long terms for Ip ownership in any circumstance. It just prevents people from enjoying works for an unfair length of time just so someone can make a few extra bucks(or their kids can after they pass).
Cadaver747: According to post #15 we already established that IP rights to Elvira character are with Queen “B” Productions, Inc (Scott D. Marcus) and rights to Elvira games are with Adventure Soft (Michael Woodroffe)
And user i_hope_you_rot already informed both parties
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/elvira_1_2/post15 karnak1: Thanks. I hadn't seen the post. I guess now they'll really know that people are interested.
EDIT : And thanks to everyone who voted on the wishlist for the Elvira games. Maybe someday we'll get these classics back.
If we got SS 1 AND 2 we can get these here as well, imo.
karnak1: Thanks. I hadn't seen the post. I guess now they'll really know that people are interested.
Cadaver747: I hope they'll come to an agreement. At least we can be sure that Elvira games will not be rejected by GOG if it happens since we have Waxworks and other titles from Adventure Soft.
As long as they don't say they are "too niche" like other games...remember, most such games were added well before we had curation. :|
