The EFF wants to hear from people who unintentionally bought DRM protected products where the DRM caused trouble. To quote from the page:

We're collecting your DRM gotcha stories. Specifically, we're looking for cases where:

Someone in the USA;
Bought a product, service, or device;
That had DRM (a technological barrier that restricted your ability to access code or other content stored on your device);
Where the DRM's existence and extent were not disclosed;
(Or inadequately disclosed)
And that caused trouble later.
(Sorry to those not in the US, but they are unfortunately only looking for stories from those in the USA.)
I'm above it
Thanks for spreading the news!
Only problem I have ever had was the original disc of Chronicles of Riddick. Never was able to run it due to what I think is called Starforce. Haven't had a problem since.
Dont forget the very nasty tages .... thats a very nasty thing
one of the secretfiles games has it, i think it was secret files 2

Anno 1404 retail version had it. Thankfully, Ubisoft removed it; maybe they had way too many support tickets due to Tages? Anyway, it was kinda unexpected but they did it... Of course that lead me to finally buy the game!

unfortunately that one secretfiles game has tages still in it... so i wont install that crappy tages stuff.
Thats why i keep hoping all the secret files will be on GOG one day, funny thjing is that the guys who own it , are already on GoG, so why dont they release all there old games first before they release new games?
I am mostly interested in the old stuff.

Mickeysoft has gone down the drain and that new 'boss' is a real pain in the rear, i saw some videos of the guy and he looks like a little 'angry' man, a nasty fellow it is.

Funny thing is: I have no DRM horror stories. It always kind of worked for me, maybe with a bit of waiting and trying repeatedly.

I still hate DRM, but horror stories - none. Well, I also switched to GOG really quickly and stayed away from DRM as much as possible.

But I guess the EFF will probably not collect stories from people who didn't experience anything bad with DRM.
Should probably talk about the new HiTman or the deceased Darkspore. You could probably add about all the games that are still require online connection and to be run through a client. There are plenty of horror stories.
Only from the USA? Damn, I hate racists!!!
But anyways:
I had trouble with TES: Oblivion. Normally, you don`t await troubles when deinstalling a game, without having the disc in the drive, right? Well, Oblivion refused to deinstall without disc. The horror thing was: after I tried to deinstall without disc one time, it didn`t let me deinstall the game anymore, even with the disc in the drive. It wasn`t even playable anymore, because it didn`t recognize the disc anymore.
I`m still wondering why a game refuses to deinstall without the game disc. I can understand that a game refuses to install or be played, but refusing to deinstall seems not to make much sense!
Bioshock 1! I was so angry, even though i bought it retail and full price, that i gifted it to a friend. Never touched it again. And i played 2 pirated. That was the WORST case of DRM i have ever tasted. I was even prevented from activating my product near launch (had a big server issue thing then, i don't remember now). And the installation times restriction, which wasn't initially per machine, but per times (and it was two, i think?).

Ah. And GTA 4. I needed to wait for a proper crack, so i could play my LEGIT, retail game. I too ended gifting it to a friend, because not only its DRM had been crap, but game was utter crap (compared to San Andreas), too.

Ah, then I`m happy that I never bought Bioshock 2! I wanted to play it, but I read on the package, that it even doesn`t allow you to save without registration, so I never bought it. Wondering if it is on steam now and if it still needs that?

It uses Steamworks now.
GWFL has been removed.

1) It IS on steam.
2) They removed some layers of DRM (didn't bother to search on it, though), back when Batman Asylum and City had that, too.

Bioshock 2 is full of glitches and issues. Many players claim it is not very stable or something (again i didn't bother to search more). Also, its devs gave the finger to pc users by announcing that Minerva's Den and other DLC will be console exclusives, but people made a huge ruckus and they were technically forced to abide by their initial promise, to deliver the extra content on pc, too...

It is a good game, though, as a concept, at least. Out of the entire series, i liked 2 the most. Even though i didn't beat it once, yet. There is a torrent version with all DLCs incorporated, too!
