hyperagathon: You mean, in the extremely unlikely case where you bought an in-dev game, decided you were happy with it, twenty years have passed and now Starbound has finally been released (just kidding, it was canceled in the meantime), and only now, as a finished product, it doesn't work on your computer anymore?
Could happen, let's say that there's an update to the game engine and suddenly it doesn't work with some graphic cards since they're no longer supported. Of course that the same can be said of normal released games...

RyaReisender: Also I wonder what happens when the game gets the released. Does the normal refund policy still not apply? Meaning if you buy it InDev you can't get a refund when it doesn't work on your computer when finished?

Which brings up an interesting point, maybe covered elsewhere: what does happen if a game gets cancelled before 1.0 release?

I would like to know that too.

Nothing. The game is already released when it enters early access. Its a game of roulette that you take if you buy an early access game.

This is gogs explanation found under Ashes of the Singularity:
"Ashes of the Singularity is an early access game and is currently not finished. It may or may not change significantly over the course of development. "

Easy enough. So it's like any other pre 1.0 crapshoot.

Hell, like 1.0+ isn't a crapshoot these days...

F1ach: The game I wanted to refund doesnt appear in the dropdown list, did it appear in yours? If not, how did you process it please?

Thanks for reading :)
Just choose "not applicable" and give them the name of the game and your order ID in the message or in the subject field.

Officially, it won't get canceled; The devs will name it v1.0 and call it a day.

I'm thinking more of the likely case of me buying the game because of the 25% discount, then never even download it until 2 years later when I finally have some free time to play it and then notice that it doesn't run on my computer.

Exactly, I think in that case the regular GOG refund policies would apply: the tech support will try to get your game working, and if they cannot do it then you'll be ofered a refund. This is how it works with regular finished games, right?

Well, their policy is 30 days after the purchase, not sure if they will refund after that (perhaps they will contact the devs to fix the problem).

Ooops, right, I forgot this "minor" detail... :S
They processed the refund about an hour after i requested it, will take a few days to go back to my credit card but.
