Hi-Rez Studios seems to own the franchise now (well, they are listed as both the developer and publisher of Tribes: Ascend and the halted Tribes: Universe).

I just now sent an email to Hi-Rez. I'm guessing it's more legally complicated than they just giving GOG the "go ahead", and assuredly there would be compatibility issues, but it's still worth a shot.

Starsiege:Tribes was the best multiplayer action I ever played. It was years ahead of its time. Incredible network code (you could easily play with 400ms ping, not good for capturing the flag/sniping but enough for heavy offense/defense or engineer), unparalleled customization (you could have everything you want on your HUD arranged the way you want), tons of scripts, mods and maps (most of them you didn't even have to download as the game was able to create them dynamically on your pc). In fact I don't know any modern multiplayer game with such flexibility.
Gameplay was absolutely brilliant and was built around exploiting ingame bug which allowed you to move with lightning speed. Actually that bug was the main feature of the game. They reduced the speed in Tribes 2 and it failed.

Anyway, i don't think i had ever played these games in the past, but i voted for them. After all, the more games there are here, the better for us. And a chance to play them of course. ;-)

Every time I see a necro like this I'm amazed that the necroer actually managed to find something useful for that person with GOGs forum search function. See every thread necro as a search function victory and you'll start to appreciate necroing here. ;)

On one hand it's frustrating when searching for something specific but on the other hand it spices up the forum a bit with random threads from GOGs forum history popping up now and then. :)

I have the retail versions and have played them (except maybe Tribes), they are pretty good mech games. Not quite up to the level of Mechwarrior or Heavy Gear series, but pretty good. Hmmm, and now I get an urge to retry them, it's been awhile... I wonder if it is possible to run them on modern systems, or do they need a retro-PC? I think the first one was a DOS game, it should at least work on DOSBox, but the others might have been 16bit Windows games...?

I originally wanted to comment how OP admitted liking Shattered Steel. I usually just see people hating the game, I though I must be the only person out there liking it. But, it is isn't as good as the other mentioned mech games, though.

Frankly, I am convinced it is Google leading (new) people here. Which is good for GOG, I guess.

Quite often when I google for info on some old PC games, the top pickings lead to some old GOG forum discussions.
