Whilst I know that steam/uplay/origin et al do their bit (does Galaxy?) of spying on everyone`s system that has it installed, I think EA/Coldwood are really starting to take the piss. (tbh they all are, but this tops it all).

I just bought Unravel on a sale. Funky little game about a humanoid form made of string.
When first loaded (actually second, the game locks system often..) it didn`t show options on main screen, but only once the game was underway.

Good job I`m the sort to alter anything & everything, because I spotted the following:

"EA collects data about how players use our products/services for their operation and
improvement, to tailor communications and to enhance the player experience. If you disable such
collection, EA will only collect data reasonably necessary to operate our products/services.
CHANGES WILL BE REFLECTED IN YOUR NEXT GAME PLAY SESSION."

Nope, this wasn`t in the Origin client, this was directly in the game itself.
Even after I turned it off, it still collects data anyway. o0

So now folks have windoze at it, steam/origin etc at it, but now even games are being set to collect data?
All of them making money by selling on our data, when the fuck do we get our cut!? ;)

Sheesh! Think I need a cabin in the woods away from all this madness.

You want to exchange this Coldwood madness with that Cabin in the Woods madness?

I think that sentence means that if you change the game's settings, those changes will be kept for future playing sessions. At least, that's how I'd interpret it.

But, yeah, it is a bit weird that they collect info even if you tell them not to. What is even the point of the option to turn data collection off? :/

Typical. Wonder what their definitions of "reasonable" and "necessary" are..

At least you get a choice:

CHOOSE OPTION A OR B:

A) [ __ ] We collect a shit ton of personal data

B) [ __ ] We collect a shit ton of personal data PLUS an extra shit ton

I think I'll choose C

C) [ __ ] I elect not to play this data miner title

Was going to say I`d not be spied upon whilst in the woods, but more likely as govt et al would wonder what I`ve got planned.

brb, just heard hammering on the door.

I had to restart the game to have the data mining option actively off.

Welp, by actively, I mean it now doesn`t inform me what it is doing on my system :(

They`ll never take me ali....WAIT! I mean, alive, take me alive, but let me bring my games too.
At least the DRM free ones, don`t think they`re stalking me....Are they?

Hmm, perhaps if they are doing some giggity stuff on my system, they`ll breed some super game.
Now THAT is why EA et al are spying on us all!
