bluethief: The game just got denuvo, so I guess a GOG release is out of the question for the time being:

Confirmation on Steamdb also: https://steamdb.info/app/534380/history/
Thanks for bringing this up, now I have zero interest in it.

When it comes to Denuvo -
Dying Light 2 Stay Human was in development for seven years; throughout that period, over fifteen hundred people invested their time and talent into making the game. To protect the efforts of the whole team from piracy we suffered when we released Dying Light 1, we’ve included the Denuvo system, at least for the launch period. It’s a solution used widely for AAA games nowadays.
Being gamers ourselves, we understand your concerns, and we want to ensure that it will not impact your gaming experience. We continue putting extra resources into testing the game, and at this stage, we do not see any noticeable impact on the performance.
We’ll be actively reviewing feedback during the game’s launch.

The actual sales figures of Dying Light, source wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dying_Light#Sales

In the first week after its release, 1.2 million people played Dying Light. The retail version of Dying Light debuted at No. 1 on the US software sales chart, outselling heavy competitors such as Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Dying Light has the highest-selling first month of sales for a new survival-horror intellectual property, breaking the record previously held by The Evil Within. The game also reached No. 1 on the UK software retail chart for two weeks, outperforming other major releases in February such as The Order: 1886 and Evolve, despite the game having been released a month earlier in digital format. In its first 45 days after its release, 3.2 million people played Dying Light, making it the most popular game that Techland had developed. Techland announced 4.5 million players had played the game by May 2015. The game had sold five million units by August in the same year More than 17 million players had played the game by December 2019.

I agree with them, denuvo does have a big impact in early sales, it means even more people will not buy it and just pirate it. It will be cracked quite quickly of course, but it does give a good overview of their standpoint.

What they meant was:
“Not a release, but once we have squeezed every last penny from every other store/possibility then we may consider a GOG release”.

I would t hold your breath, if it’s denuvo infected. I thought it may happen, aren’t they owned by tencent now?

Probably they will rid of Denuvo once the game is cracked, give them a month or two.
low rated
Dying Light 2 wouldn't be a viable GOG release anyway, unless the GOG version is going to get Crossplay this time, which it probably wouldn't.

Many portions of Dying Light 1 on GOG are unplayable, because Galaxy-only multiplayer is unviable and a ghost town, and certain content of Dying Light 1 requires multiple players to do it properly (i.e. getting a weapon that requires multiplayer cooperation, and DLCs that were designed for multiplayer, or simply enjoying the game in coop mode, etc.).

I vividly remember my frustrations with Dying Light 1 because of how gimped the GOG version of it is due to not having viable multiplayer. It's probably the best example of a GOG game having equal feature parity with the Steam version on paper, but yet in actual real-life practice, they are extremely lacking in parity.

No doubt a Crossplay-less version of Dying Light 2 on GOG would come with all those same aggravations.
This thing is so hyped, my prediction? It will be on shady platforms on release day or the day after at the latest. Denuvo is a total waste of money for any new game. If the system was still uncracked, I might see hope in it, but like this? Just make high quality games with content that gives people an incentive to buy, then people will be more likely to buy it than download it cracked. The best option? Good multiplayer functions, that's what has always made me buy a game, because multiplay is usually only possible in the original version.
I'm guessing like many Steam-suite using, Steam-laced, and DRM-laced w/ Denuvo games - when Techland probably finishes releasing say lots of expansions, DLC's, remove DRM, and/or wants to implement GOG Galaxy onto it, then it might come to GOG.

You know, when they (Techland) can take what's basically the "final" Steam-version they're basically done w/ updating and doing DLC/expansions with, then it'll come here and then'll do whatever they need to for the GOG version (remove Steamworks suites or disable them; Denuvo; DRM is removed; implement Galaxy and its suites, etc etc - if they need to/want to).

Namely, when they've got a (more or less) "Final" Complete Edition on their hands - then it might hit GOG.

Do it all in one big swoop as a Complete Edition for GOG and then be done w/ it, for the most part.

And that could be quite a LONG while or so, down the line - probably a few years, I'd guess.

I bought Dying Light when it came out as well as the expansion and finished both and was waiting for Dying Light 2 but I don't buy Denuvo infected games so more money in the bank for me. Also sneaking in the notice about the DRM just before release is almost as shitty as what 4A Games did with Metro Exodus exclusivity so if Dying Light 2 ever does get Denuvo officially removed I'll treat it like I did with Metro and wait until the game is so cheap hopefully they won't make any money off of it.

Also it's important to remember that Denuvo infected games are not cracked. It's still there. Just like when the media parrotted Denuvo BS stating it was "Anti-Tamper" when it was DRM you get people doing the same thing by stating it's cracked when it's not. Don't buy or play this crap, spend your money elsewhere. Of course you not buying won't even show up in any statistics (except for bullshit ones like the dev post above) since almost everyone won't care but hey at least you did your part.

I guess we should be lucky they don't require an Epic account.

Don't give them any ideas!

We've seen other games like Tomb Raider Reboot Trilogy games on Steam (TR 2013, Rise, and Shadow), where they actually added Epic-account support a few months ago in a patch.

Ha, I'm not alone in describing denuvo as an infection, yeah, I won't be touching this either, fuck denuvo, and it's anti-consumer stance! I guess it won't be coming here after all!

This is why I only buy AAA once it hits a deep sale, and why I rather default to A/AA indies and the like!
Even if the sequel shows up here, it could also end up missing some of the things that the original is missing here.
Hello, I had a problem with co-op in Dying Light 2. My friend and I were going to play Dying Light 2 in co-op, we both went through the prologue, we teamed up, played, super! The next day, we were also going to play co-op, but we didn’t succeed, because the panel of the epic shift + f3 keyboard shortcut did not open for me. Shift+f3 doesn't work and it's not the keyboard (I checked). At the same time, my friends list was not displayed, and I could not join any other player. The "find games" tab was empty, and at the bottom there was an endless download with the inscription "search for games". My friend invite me, I dont see the invitation. As I think, this problem arose after being turned off off the Internet. I wanted play at the game in Dying Light 2, but at launch there was a black screen with an endless loading. It was after this "event" that I think the cooperative stopped working for me. I've written to both Dying Light 2 and Epic Games support, but I haven't been able to find any specific information on how to fix the problem. I can't return the game to the store. A friend with steam version game is all right. I wrote here in the hope that someone will help me, or maybe someone is faced with a probable problem.

Dying Light 2 is not on this store, therefore nobody here can help you with it. You need to contact the store you got it from/utilise their forums.
