If this is not a joke, I think you've got nationalism and patriotism confused. Patriotism is not dangerous, it's just love for your nation and way of life. Nationalism on the other hand is believing that you are superior to all other nations which often leads to conflict and destruction.

Nope you are talking about nationalism, a patriot believes that his his nation can strive to become better which means a patriot is open to criticism whereas a nationalist believes his nation has reached the top and doesn't take any criticism.
