So steam with over 40k games has only 600 drm free games(at least according to this site)…..epic has way more drm free games in comparison because epic overal only has 1k games on the store and nearly 300 are drm free.I noticed that devs are way more open to release their games drm free and for example if they have drm in the beginning they get patched drm free later on for example death stranding.It’s also interesting how many humble games are drm free.If you want to see an overall statistic here you go

What is your point?

Humble started out as a mostly drm free store, but has since changed to a mostly steam key reseller. Those games that are drm free there are often outdated. There are some that you can only get there, tinman gamng for instance, otherwise shop elsewhere. I still occasionally buy book bundles, but that’s really it.
Epic is the new dog on the block and expanding fairly rapidly. They have some games which can be made drm free, but that is a workaround more than anything else, they are still very focused on their client system.
Steam is the devs to platform to which all is measured, as epic there are workarounds to getting drm free for some games, but it’s not really a feature.
As for others on that list, whilst technically it may be true it’s what hoops and workarounds you would need to do to get them. M$, Amazon, Uplay, would not be trusting these at all, even if proved drm free. Also, I would question the basis of calling it drm free, what about the client status (downloading/updating etc?), multiplayer, other features such as modding or achievements. It’s not as simple as “it doesn’t have denuvo” as that is only one of takings problems.

As long as their store clients are mandatory to download/install the games, there is exactly 0 DRM-free game on Steam, and 0 on EGS.

PCGamingWIki has upcoming and discontinued/unlisted games in its lists. I suspect that is the gap.

Their list is little inaccurate. Backing up DRM free steam games is a pain. Since none of them are package as .exe installer.

All those numbers cited in this thread are bogus untrue nonsense regardless of anything "PCGamingWiki" does or doesn't do, because those numbers include DLCs, and different editions of the exact same game, and other such shenanigans which destroy the integrity of the count.

So in other words, the alleged number of games being listed on GOG is in no way an accurate and real and true representation of the actual number of games on GOG, which AFAIK, no one has ever made a true & accurate count of.

And, even if the game is (supposedly) DRM-free by this standard, the game can still be updated later to now include DRM. Meaning that for new buyers, post-update, it is not DRM-free any longer in any sense, making the number yet again even smaller.

I find the valid distinction to be that of a DRM-free store versus a DRMed store. Granted there are gray areas like how itch.io technically doesn't forbid DRM, and GOG has various offending games. I would say Zoom-Platform and Fireflower Games are good examples of "purely DRM-free" stores; while, Scheme and Epic are primarily DRMed.

Once you downloaded it through the client it’s yours to keep.Most of my games on epic work without the launcher and death stranding had denuvo first and is now drm free
