Ghorpm: I'm glad to see great people around here. BTW how was your trip to Poland?
avatar
awalterj: It was definitely worth it, here's the report from the trip (actually it turned into 2 trips, sort of:

And continued with more pictures from Poland here:

WOW! Awesome pics! And you've just made my day since you indeed visited Ogrodzieniec. I hope you like this castle as much as I do - it's one of my favorite Polish castles, I've been there several times!

Thanks and also thank you for making the suggestion about Ogrodzieniec: It's now one of the coolest castles I've ever visited, anywhere. Even cooler than Malbork imho, but maybe that's because Ogrodzieniec reminds me of the classic grey LEGO castles where I didn't build roofs for the towers either so one can place the archers there and play with them.

It is as you said, there is a brickton of stuff to see in Poland and one can't possibly cover everything in one visit, so I'm going to have to come back some time in the future.
The trip has supplied me with some pictures that I managed to lazily "recycle" for this thread:

Then I'm even more proud of myself and happy :D I also think that Ogrodzieniec is cooler than Malbork. Sure, Malbork is really big and in a good shape but the atmosphere of Orgodzieniec is unmatched!

Come anytime you want!

Sorry guys for a little offtopic ;)

awalterj: (the filename should provide an extra hint, if you've played the game)
Toejam & Earl could high-five each other to share health (when playing two player). A pretty nifty mechanism, though I'm not seeing the game in your breakfast.

Hang on. Donkey Kong Country switched between characters with a hand slap, too, I think. Is it that?

Don't overthink the "gimmie five" part, I realize this hint might throw off people more than it helps. In this case, it's "give me 5 of something", not give me five as in the gesture.

EDIT: Also, it's the creature that wants those five somethings in the game. Again, I apologize for my ambiguous culinary creation so don't look too far...!

Ambiguity is useful sometimes. I'm at the point where puzzling out what to draw takes as long as the drawing itself. So it's good to trigger memories of games I've played but not yet drawn. (I have drawn Toejam & Earl, though!)

For me it's the exact other way around, I have plenty of ideas for this thread but they're usually way too complicated to draw quickly so all you get is pancakes with faces and stuff.

Another hint: that thing of which you need to give 5 is bananas

I have no idea what game it is (Donkey Kong would have been my guess as well), but this banana face made me laugh, it's so cute :3
(May I please ask what the brown part is, I can't identify it :D)

I'll tell you my self-made secret pancake recipe:

Rice flour + cold pressed canola oil + cocoa powder + maple syrup + sheep milk + butter + a little bit of sea salt (all ingredients are organic except for the sea salt which is just normal sea salt)
I don't measure the ingredients, I just mix them in amounts that feel ok.
No sugar, no white flour. Sheep milk is tastier than cow milk imho.

Vegans can substitute the sheep milk with soy milk, rice milk or almond milk but I don't recommend it, and the pancakes will be flimsy and fall apart more easily unless you add something to replace the butter with. maybe coconut butter would work, but in all honesty nothing is better than regular butter from cows or some such and milk from animals tastes 10 times better than any substitute, I've tried many things.

Sounds yummy, gotta try it someday :D (Not sure where I'm going to get sheep milk from though O_o)

In Hungary we have our own type of pancake, which is very similar to crêpe, except that it's much thinner, softer, and sweeter :3
It's mainly eaten as dessert, filled with... anything sweet you like, eg.: cocoa powder, jam, nutella, pudding, fruits, anything.

As you said, I should've guessed the obvious. To be fair, I played the game over 20 years ago.

The Secret of Monkey Island?

That's the right answer, yes! Because I just showed a monkey face with no scene or context, I decided to be fair and pick an obvious game that immediately comes to mind with the subject matter, same thing with the dino head for Turok.

That part with the 5 bananas and the monkey is one of the funniest ones in the game imho, in fact most of the funniest scenes involve monkeys in some way.
Monkey Island is the only adventure game I replay every couple years so I know pretty much all the puzzles etc by heart. For some reason, this doesn't detract from the replay fun and that's why it's such a classic, it's just all around fun.

I really enjoyed the first. The second, too, though I don't remember it as well. I could certainly stand to play them again. I know my brother has a save game just before the spitting contest which he revisits regularly.

After the second game, Guybrush became a much-less-abstract cartoon with a real voice. He was so far from my own mental image of the character that I couldn't bear to play more than a few moments of the third game.

I'll draw sometime this evening.
I dunno what I'm doing.

Maybe you do.
