That's the first thing I thought of , too! I only played one of the parts so I was going through a list of monsters from the other parts but in the end I noticed that I had to be mistaken <.<

It is not, I will also say that the game is not necessarily a shooter even though there can be shooting involved.
I might draw something else as a hint if nobody get closer to the solution...

It is not on GOG.com but there is a game from its developers, it was added less than two months ago if I am not mistaken.
