Just looking at that picture I'm instantly thinking of the very first level (dropship landing) of Aliens, but I'm not so sure anymore after looking at that second pic.

XD That was my first idea but he said it's where he got stuck and that's the very first level.

Zacron, nope but I can see the likeness.

I have never played the Aliens game but, wow, travelling through those rings is almost identical.

The time frame for both games' release is pretty close. I played this game on my Commodore.

Hmm... my first thought was indeed Aliens but now I can think about another C64 game that featured "traveling through circles" part... So...
