Not at all. The game comes with its own set of pawns. When I played through it on PS3 I had a lot of connectivity problems (my Wi-fi sucked at the time) and when I couldn't access other players' pawns I just used the included ones. Didn't make much of a difference other than the pawns looking better and not having stupid l33t nicknames, lol.

I think the only thing you "need" the sharing system for is unlocking certain achievements.

I was wondering the same about this, I might believe that gog has that in place with galaxy or it might be cross platform with steamsworks for the pawns.

You are able to share pawns just fine. You can even send gifts when you return them - it's just that the pawn's owner will never receive that gift. Keep in mind that there are a lot less people playing the GoG version and a lot less who've reached high levels - player pawns become extremely rare at high levels as a result.

Only 4% of players have gotten above level 100 - player pawns became so rare I just switched to offline mode rather than wait to connect to the server only to find out no one is available each time I looked for a new pawn. Since my character is offline - my online pawn is probably level 80 or so, I should connect online to upload my latest pawn :D

when you goto look for pawns the stone will sort by level (default) i.e, if you are level 20 it shows you pawns around that level first but you can sort by different needs so If you want a healer look for mage and if you need a tank look for warriors... I have it set to pawns from my mate list and that sits between 30-100 with lots of options.

p.s, don't worry about getting to levels above 100... this game is very very big i.e, lots to do, places to see and monsters to kill so just enjoy the ride

I played the entire game (both Steam and GOG) and never once went Online to get Pawns. The game will auto- generate fresh Pawns for you to choose. Just let it know in the options if you don`t want to go Online.

You can re-enter the area to "refresh" the area too.

Oh,so it's only an online bug/patch that is missing.That is no problems with me as I don't play online.

Did you use any mods? In case what you indeed played through entirely, is the vanilla game then thank you. In any case, at least the game is playable in single player mode. I have no concern over the online components either.

I`m no Online player (well only very rarely with another game). I much prefer Offline like I do with all my rpgs. It`s a private thing to fully be immersed.

Dragon`s Dogma allows you to play fully this way no problem- and with Mods or no mods. I installed a bunch of clothing mods and a mod that enabled me to change the look of my character later since he looks weird when you make him at start to how he looks once in game.

Online rewards and achievements mean absolutely nothing to me.

Okay, so no requirement for a mod to get through the game? Good to know. I prefer my games exactly the same way so I understand.
