Has there been any further word on when/if the Dragonlance games will be making their way here?

I wonder if the Dragonlance universe is worth checking out if you are a fan of the Forgotten Realms.

Probably worth having a look at, yeah. I recall when they first came out with the Dragonlance setting I thought it was interesting.

Yes. If you are a fan, 99% sure you'll either like them or at least, enjoy the books as much as not to consider reading them a waste of time.

If they can get us Dragonstrike I'll be very pleasantly surprised. Every time I see "the Dragonlance games" mentioned, it's the Gold Box dragons games, or the two adventure/side-scrolling hybrids where you control the Companions, but nobody ever seems to mention that game. It was my favorite flight simulator until TIE Fighter came out ^_^

Yes. It's a unique flavor of D&D, but it's D&D nonetheless. Most of Forgotten Realms is there, just with some amendments to some new classes and the focus on dragons in the world.

You mean the Forgotten Realms Pantheon, Geography and/or Characters exist in Dragonlance? O_o
Forgotten Realms is a campaign setting, same as Greyhawk, Dark Sun and Dragonlance.
And while the rules may have been similar, don't forget that in 1996 Dragonlance switched to the SAGA System, so even the rules differed.

Unless by Forgotten Realms you mean generic fantasy, which would be similar to calling all platformers Super Mario, or all first person shooters Doom.

I actually found the Dragonlance books very hard to get into. It just never gripped me like Forgotten Realms does.
Now Dark Sun I loved, I just wish there were more books set there.

Personally I would say yes. I collect these types of books (yep, another room full of them). The first set of three books is a pretty good read, and gives a backbone to further stories. My personal favorite though I the Brothers Majere, as Raistlin is one of my all time favorite characters. There are lots outside that, varying quality, and in different sets, so bear in mind once you get outside the main sets then some may not be as good.

Also from the author there (Margret Weiss), there is the Deathgate saga, 7 books if memory serves, and these are also very good, separate universe from DL. And then there is Rose Of The Prophet trilogy if you prefer more of the Arabian nights feel. Hell I could on with books till next millennium :o)
