MaximumBunny: I remember when I could barely run Pong at 15 fps on low settings. People had that sexy 6kb of RAM to make it so much smoother and I was too broke to buy a $35,000 home computer capable of running it.
Y'all remind me of that Monty Python skit about the Four Yorkshiremen, who all sat around arguing about who had it tough when they were younger.

markrichardb: Every Origin Systems game was a system-breaker. Kind of thankful hardware remains relevant for a lot longer now.
And we have consoles to thank for that. They slow down the hardware/software spiral.
You do know that RPG stands for "Really Poor Graphics," right?

True, remember in the original ones you had to draw them yourself. Why do you think they called them Pen and Paper RPGs?

The first fantasy sword and sorcery video game RPG looked like this:

Nah, 2015 RPGs look like this.
I remember playing Bard's Tale 3 on an Apple IIgs. (Game ran in IIe mode.) There were 4 disks and it was necessary to switch between disks after boot, when entering a dungeon, and whenever saving or loading inside a dungeon.

On the other hand, I remember finding a major experience exploit, as well as how to wander around with an empty party.

Years later, I played the DOS version, which lacks the load time and disk switching issues, but is buggy to the point where I can't recommend that version (unless you use a certain fan patch that can be found on the Internet).

But Pen&Paper RPGs have the best graphics imaginable. Literally. Since it is your imagination that creates the graphics to the stories in your mind!

You are being attacked by a misshaped television antenna. Would do you want to do?

I cast Wish, but forget to actually wish for anything.

ET3D: I had to upgrade the graphics card to get Neverwinter Nights running reasonably. It was a demanding game.
I remember the first time I waned to play NwN on a 16mb card, the game refused to run because it required some graphics features. Got a 32mb Riva TnT2 a week later :D
