gog2002x: He already stated it was due to budget reasons.
.
Orkhepaj: dd costs like 9 euros
dragon age 5 euros
clearly not much
Yeah, I know it's not too much and it's a crazily good offer, but that's not the final price for me, in my country we have to pay 65% of taxes for puchases in foreign currency, so a $10 games cost $16.50 dollars (in this case $8.25 for Dragon Age and $14.85 for Dragon's Dogma), and it's quite some money here, our salaries are pretty small in comparison with other first world countries. So unfortunately I have to choose one or the other, but hey, at least is one game less on my wishlist! :V
Apparently it's an unanimous decision, Dragon Age will be!!! Thanks for your help people!
gog2002x: I own Dragon's Dogma, but haven't installed it yet. So, can't comment on it.
But Dragon Age: Origins, I have played it a few times.
- The story progresses through chapters, so some regions will be locked until you progress to the next chapter.
- There is a lot of freedom when it comes to exploration once you unlock those regions.
- Though visiting some areas early may be more beneficial than later, including areas from the DLC. A lot of extras in the DLCs.
- Choices you chars make can change some of the outcomes or story paths. Some choices will change the ending as well.
- If you complete the main quests and the side quests, including all the DLCs, it's easily 60+ hours.
- In my case, I probably invested 100+ hours. It takes a lot of time to carefully explore areas, read the in-game lore, take in the scenes and so much more. :)
- The combat mechanics for both melee, ranged and magic are fun. The never felt cumbersome to me.
- The skills were fairly easy to understand and use. Which skills and how you used them can determine how hard or easy a battle can be.
- You can even let the computer control the chars to a certain degree during combat. Works well for some skills/spells, but not all.
- I ended up micromanaging for best results. Good thing the combat mechanic is real time with the ability to pause any time.
There's probably a lot more I could add. As others have mentioned, other than the fact both games are RPG, I don't think you can compare them to each other too well.
I can say that Dragon Age: Origins is one of my all-time favorite pc games. The GOG version also includes the expansion and all DLCs as far as I know.

Oh, and did I forget to mention, the current price for DA:O is at an all-time low.
