I liked "Impossible Planet/Satan Pit", but "human nature / family of blood" didn't really do it for me. I thought that the first of the two-parter was too dragged out, and I am not really that interested in stories happening in the past.

Just saw first episode of Sarah Jane, S2, but realized that it referred to a Sontaran invasion from Doctor Who Season 4, so I stopped are now going back to Doctor Who Season 4.

Did you watch Star Trek The Animated Series during your Star Trek Marathon?

I first saw series 1 from 2005 when it first aired, and marathoned it this week. Everything past it is uncharted territory.

Yes, naturally! And I did so just after seeing Original series - so the chronology was correct.

In my search as a Doctor Who completionist I found a new episode from 2008 I hadn't spotted before:

Meanwhile I am almost done with Doctor Who Season 4. Many good episodes. Favorites include "Planet of the Odd", "The Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead" and "Midnight". "Time Left" was pretty cool also.

My favorite foe from the classic series is the Sontaron's but their introduction in the new series was a bit cheesy. I liked that we finally saw a lot of them - and killing a lot, but the story with the ATMOS system and the boy genius was lame.

I have finally wrapped up all episodes of 2008. It was year with many episodes - more than 60 across all the spin-offs and behind the scenes shows.

Doctor Who Season 4 was pretty cool with many good episodes.

Torchwood Season 2 - was ok. Better than Season 1, but still mixed quality.

Sarah Jane adventures Season 2 was fair - a bit lame at times, but compared to some of the Doctor Who episodes from the 60's and 70's it was acceptable.

And in the last story of season 2 Lethbridge Stewart has a role. He is old. I think his first episode was the one with Yeties in the late 60's with the 2nd doctor. So it is about 40 years after his first appearance in the show. Impressive.

And now onto 2009. I already saw some of the them:

* Torchwood Season 3 - Children of Earth
* Sarah Jane - Comic Relief
* Sarah Jane Adventures Season 3
* Doctor Who Confidential Season 4 Specials (Already seen)

* Doctor Who: Tonights the Night
* Dreamland

So, that was the end of 2009. A mix of good stuff an not so good stuff.

Of the Doctor Who specials I enjoyed the "Planet of the Dead" particularly much.

And "Torchwood Season 3 - Children of Earth" was just brillant. The best in Torchwood so far. When the kids began screaming for the first time I was totally creeped out! And it was good to see Nicholas Briggs (the voice of the Daleks) in the role as a human monster.

Dreamland was so-so, but ok.

And all the Sarah Jane stuff was boring. I must say, though, that Season 3 was better than the previous two.

Also during this year I found some more 2009 episodes that I also saw:

* Torchwood Close-up (19 episodes, I think - I could find no definite list. tjhey were shown on the bbc website in 2009 but has now been removed.)
* Torchwood Captains vlog (2 episodes, I think)
* Torchwood Season 1 + 2 outtakes.

And now on to 2010. This is Matt Smith's first year so that is going to be exciting. Torchwood took a break in 2010 so nothing there.

Now for me the Question is, where would i be able to (legally) watch the old series from Germany?
In english language, and subtitles if possible...
I have all DVDs of the new series up to season 8. I'm on vacation at the moment. Would be an ideal time to binge-watch some Doctor Who :)

The easiest way is to see them with Hulu. THey have most but not all. And yes I am pretty sure it is legal in Germany. Go to http://www.buyfrompowerseller.com/ and buy a prepaid master card. Then make a Hulu account (hulu.com). Use unlocator.com to access the site. This is not shady - I live in Denmark and this approach has been covered a lot in local media and lawyers has confirmed it is legal here.

Alternatively you can buy the DVD releases. You can find most on Amazon. This is the first one:

But I think you are out of luck if you want German subtitles. There might be English subtitles on some DVD versions.

Unfortunately BBC destroyed some early episodes. The fan made lost episode reconstructions are grey area. BBC tolerates them somewhat. You can find many of the on dailymotion.com.

I recently learnt that "Nevermind the BuzzCocks" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Never_Mind_the_Buzzcocks) made a Doctor Who themed show back in Dec 19th 2009. I found a copy and saw it.

It is actually quite fun. Catherine Tate is as funny in real life as when she plays Donna.
