jacobmarner: ahh, I just realized torchwood is an anagram for doctor who! Very clever!
As an aside, rumour has it that all scripts, production notes, and set locations from 2005 were titled Torchwood to help prevent leaks from rabid fans who might come across the material and hopefully wouldn't realize it was Doctor Who.

It is not only a rumor. Russel T. Davis says this is so in Doctor Who Confidential s02e13 "Welcome to Torchwood".
Just saw "Music & Monsters" the Doctor Who Confidential 60-min Special from 2006 about the Doctor Who concert in the Wales Millennium Center. It was narrated by Anthony Head - whom I think is an awesomely cool actor.

This wraps up 2006; on to 2007:

2007 was the year with:
* Doctor Who Season 3
* Doctor Who Confidential Season 3
* The Infinite Quest (animated)
* Sarah Jane Adventures Season 1

I didn't mind them that much. In fact, I thought they were more "adult" than the first series of Torchwood. Gritty and adult themed, isn't about turning the show into soft core Scinimax porn...
Torchwood did get better after it found its feet, but then again I loved the Children of Earth series that many people hated.

Pfft! Compared to seeing black and white reconstructed shows from the 60'ies and compared to K9 the episodes I have seen of Sarah Jane so far isn't that bad. I don't see them slowing me down.

I think the absolutely worst story so far is "The Web Planet" from Season 2 of the classics. That takes lameness to completely new levels. In comparison it makes Ed Wood seem like a genius.

jacobmarner: Just saw "Gridlock" in season 3 of new series. I really enjoyed that one!

Telika: You are not alone.
I just saw the corresponding Doctor Who Confidential episode. Russell Davis says he was quite inspired by 2000 A.D. and the Judge Dredd universe when he came up with the idea. No wonder it is so cool. I love that universe.

You're at s3e6, right ?

"The lazarus experiment" is a bit weak, but it is followed by the best dr who episode ever, which is followed by the best dr who episode ever, which is followed by the best dr who episode ever, which is followed by the best dr who episode ever, which is followed by the best dr who episode ever, which is followed by the best dr who episode ever.

Yeah, the second half of the 3rd season is phenomenal, and as of yet unmatched in the following seasons. Just a superb episode after a superb episode.

Yes, but was spending yesterday watching something like 10 episodes of K9, just to get it over with. So I am taking it slow with the main serious just to savor the good stuff.
I feel like I love the idea of Doctor Who much more than the execution. Classic show, modern show... either way I like the idea of it, I love the rare episode where it gets it right for me, but the vast majority of the time I find the show disappointing. I'm not even sure why I could articulate why that is.

I own the whole damn thing, classic and modern, on DVD and Bluray. Not even sure why at this point, I should sell them and get a computer upgrade.
You may like or dislike certain episodes of Doctor Who, but I can tell you that "K9 the series" is utterly crap. I have now endured through all 26 episodes from 2009, and it was really painful. Juvenile, low production value, bad acting, inconsistent world, etc. I read that Bob Baker said in 2013 that he is working on making a second season 2. I hope that will never happen. :(

Just saw "Blink". Wow! That is possibly the best episode ever! It really had me spellbound.

Wow again...

Welcome to the club. :)

The Woman Of My Dreams (tm) still can't walk past stone statues without getting goosebumps. Eight years after.
I just wrapped up 2007.

Sarah Jane Adventures wasn't that bad compared to some of the early episodes of the classic series and K-9. In fact I rather enjoyed some of it.

I didn't like the last story of Doctor Who Season 3, where the Master was re-introduced. I think many of the scenes (in particular after they skipped 1 year ahead) for instance Martha as underground soldier was quite unbelievable.

So far my favorite episodes are The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (from Season 1), Gridlock (Season 3) and Blink (Season 3).

Infinite Quest was boring. These low quality animations really annoy me...

So next up is 2008. That was a busy year with the following shows:

* Doctor Who Season 4 + Specials
* Torchwood Season 2
* Sarah Jonas Adventures Season 2
* Doctor Who Confidential - Season 4
* Torchwood Declassified - Season 2
* 5 behind the scene episodes from Battlefield (already seen)
* Doctor Who At the Proms (already seen)
