Armello just got an update, how do I do this without overwriting the files, thus overwriting my saves?
Go to your account (Library), search for armello hover the games image and click on the arrow in the bottom right corner. Click on 'View Downloads'. Download the installer and run it.

Afaik that's all. It won't overwrite your save files.

But check the changelog first (button 'More'). Maybe the update is not important for you:
I noticed that most updates lately were for Mac systems and I am running my games on a Win computer. So new updates are irrelevant for me.

To be honest, with Armello on GOG the online doesn't work. And I heard that the devs had no plans on fixing it. So I had a hope that this was that fix.

Also, re-downloading from the installer DOES overwrite my saves as that is what I had been doing to begin with.

That's good that they're working on it :D Except that didn't seem to fix the multiplayer, just added a custom ruleset

Exactly how is it broken? Do they or GOG even know it's not working?

I was asking about the internet servers for Armello, as I never seemed to find anyone else in rooms. And someone else told me that the servers didn't work on GOG, and the dev team had no desire to fix it.

Now I'm wondering if maybe I was just unlucky, and they worked all along.

Seriously seeing as I did exactly as I was "supposed to" and it still overwrites save files, what am I doing wrong?!

Could you please elaborate a bit on this? Are the saves stored somewhere and it plows over them? Couldn't you copy them to a safe storage and them unpack back to the original destination after the update? I don't own Armello (yet) so I don't know the specifics.

I guess it varies between games, but I looked in Armello's files before I overwrote the save, and had no idea where the heck the save file is.

Try posing here. One of the devs even posts on occasion.

You're missing the point, all my games do this, not just Armello. Which is why I posted here to begin with.

That's odd...
Are you installing through Galaxy or manually?
The save files are often in a completely separate folder than the main game so I don't see why they would get over written when you update..
(In general, not sure of the specific case for Armello)

Manually, I don't use Galaxy.

And this isn't the case for Flight of the Amazon Queen, as I redownloaded it, and my old saves are still there. So maybe it's just Armello? I swear this "issue" happened constantly in the past, so I am confused but I'll just assume that, maybe perhaps, it was because Armello did an update which had to reformat the game files itself? And it only happens with games that update? I dunno and I don't even care anymore. Honestly I think I am wrong and confused at this point.
