It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

UhuruNUru: No, it really, really doesn't depend on number of games
I have 422 GOG Games, all installed with Offline Installers.
I haven't bought more than a couple at a time, so first install not affected by Total number
Well, I got between 6 and 7 times the number of games you have and I don't install them all (I just install games I'm about to play), I just backup the installers.

For me, the downloaders (backup utilities would be more of an apt name for it really) are a backup (and local store) use-case, not an install use-case.

avatar
UhuruNUru: For the most part patches are fine, after launch, no need to even install game again (exceptions exist).
Periodically I grab the latest full installs of games I already have patched several times, in case I need to do a fresh install.
If you do that regularly for all your 422 games without a tool to assist you, you are very industrious.

avatar
UhuruNUru: I know the typical reasons for using such downloaders, from times of yore, and even today being a user of Pale Moon (for it's superior extension support), which is based on older Firefox code, it's browser is still restricted to 6 simultaneous downloads.
I don't know about others, but I don't care about that personally (download speed, simultaneous downloads, etc). I just want to run a couple of commands, get my backups refreshed with updates or new games and move on with my life.

In terms of speed, as long as it is within a reasonable frame (for a fresh backup of my entire collection if my house burned down or I did something really stupid by accident which I try not to, that would be days), it can run in the background while I do other things with my life.

avatar
UhuruNUru: I use Grabit (Flasget Fork), and it can use pretty much every downloader ever made with it.
A common issue I have seen is it can download the bins, but names them all wrong something like
install-# where #=bin number minus 1
So then, you do use a tool besides just the browser to get your games no?

FrodoBaggins: Hate to break it to you, but browser is an alternative to 3td party downloader.

I tried to help Tosnic so she could access her games quickly. You jumped in and immediately started attacking me cos you wanted to appear superior. But you are really just arrogant, insulting, and condescending.
Gawd, I honestly don't know how to respond to your over-the-top silliness, except to suggest you cultivate using logic.

I admit, I had you mostly pegged as just being a smart arse, because I could not conceive that any person would truly think that someone capable of passing a download link to JDownloader, would have no clue that they could just download with their browser, which after all is the standard method, not an alternate one.

Best of luck with your world view. ;)

TLDR: No, my main focus of that post was also helping the OP fix issues with using 3rd party Downloaders, as I had worked around that same issue, and knew why it occurred.
It was those issues that led me to trying Firefox, as though I had a workaround method, it made the time saving of more simultaneous downloads, barely worth the extra effort, but mostly it was too many failed downloads having to be restarted from scratch, so I'd given up on using that method about a year ago
Still I had that knowledge, and passed it on, while recommending just using Firefox instead.

You may notice TLDR isn't my style so, to elaborate:

I'm a prolific game modder, I use Adalia Fundamentals, and Barefoot Essentials, GOG user scripts, but that's more about how the store is presented rather than downloading tools.

For me it's more about having full control of when my games update rather than keeping each install always up to date. Nothing is worse to me than a game updating, and breaking my carefully, and heavily modded game.

I need to give mod authors some catch up time, and often full blown game+mod updating only gets applied each new game restart.

Plus after 1st year or so, most single player games (All I ever play) stop receiving any updates.
Very old games, GOG may change the method, most recently moving from DOSBox to ScummVM, but other than that, I don't find that many games updating that it can't easily be kept on top of.

I have Galaxy installed (Can't Critique it, if I don't see what it can do), so with the rare release day purchase I might try a Galaxy install, before the offline installer is available.

But always find issues with it, mostly because I have a very specific folder structure to keep both Series and release order organized, Like all Store Clients Galaxy wants all games in same place, where in my system, every game goes in a dedicated location on my games drive.
Plus Galaxy is really dumb, and doesn't actually know what version yI have installed, unless Galaxy updates that game, it will only get it right first time it sees the game.

Beyond that odd testing of Galaxy, I use nothing but the offline installers.
It gives me the total control I must have for modding.

Everything Symlinks to that NVMe game drive Steam, Origin, Games are all Symlinks.
I have 7 Drives= 2 TB NVMe+1.75 TB Three SATA +22 TB Three HDD
One HDD 8TB is my dedicated GOG installer/Goodies Drive.
I have an 8TB HDD for games I'm not actively playing, but every game I own (about 600) are installed ready to play, and most are modded.

VTMB I have 9 full conversion mods installed, not to mention many thousands of other mods in games.
When you're dealing with that much modding content, a handful of GOG updates per week is rather trivial, compared to hundreds of mods in some games.

Just admit you were being a smart arse and move on.

And what you are mistakenly calling an alternative is purely an option. Everything after the default is an alternative, but the default itself is never that. The standard default for a download link, is to use your browser. Using any other method is an alternative. Collectively, all methods are options.

Next time just try to do so by answering the actual question. Downloading every file one by one in a browser is obviously not what the OP wanted, (s)he would have done so instead of trying a third party software.

Not wanting to get involved in the argument, between you two, because neither of you is in the right here, but neither of you is wrong, either, because sometimes the answer is in that huge grey area between opposing end points.

Sometimes, giving the answer the users requies, isn't by giving them the optimal solution, but by answering the question.

Sometimes, giving the answer the issue requires, isn't by answering the question asked, but by providing
the optrimal solution.

While you both descended into your little battle of, you're wrong, I'm right, and ignored the OP.

I explained how, and why the issue occured, and provided the only solution that can work with 3rd party downloaders, while also not recommending it was used, and suggesting that for GOG offline installers, the optimal solution is currently the Browser.

TLDR
The issue is on the front end, the file names we see are idenntical.
On the back end, the content under the file names is multiple different language based installers.

Long Version
3rd pasrty downloads are not coping with this system, of multiple installers with the same file name, but use different languages FOR THE INSTALLER, and the games default language is most often altered to match that installer.

This renaming the files issue, actually negates any advantages the downloader may have.
It has now becomes faster to click on each file in the browser, than click on one link, and Download Them All, because now you have to manually find the correct files, and then find some way to rename them.

A New Third option
Why I'm really jumping into this pointless side battle, is one that isn't actually offerred, to web site users in the browser.

Galaxy offers single file Archived (*.ZIP) downloads of the entire installer.
Of course this makes a game like Cyberpunk one 90 GB download, and a failed, corrupted, non resumable download at 90%+ would get annoying very fast.

I only test Galaxy features, so can't be sure it's reliable. My test of Cyberpunk worked fine, but one test with above average Fibre Broadband (last 20m copper) @ 200 Megabit/s (25 MB/s) bandwidth does not prove reliabilitty.

I will still recommend using modern browsers, as they can cope with many more simultaneous files than the past.

Choice matters
That's three valid solutions, I've now provided the OP, they can choose their preferred method.
My recommendation, backed up by actually using Offline Installers with every one of my 422 GOG Games, and I've tried all of them.

In the end each user decides, and the best way to actually help is offer every solution, and recommend one based on using, or at minimum testing each one first. Then tlet that user make their own chioce.

I have long experience with providing user support modding games, and their is rarely just one way to do things, user choice is why games get modded in the first place.

The best advice is to always to offer every solution, recommend one, but leave the final choice where it rightly belongs, with each user.
Thank you for your well-informed recommendations, UhuruNUru.

I will stick with GOG Galaxy for now, since it will eventually get the job done with little hassle. And maybe the GOG staff will fix its bugs along the way, as it does not reliably resume to download after PC standby until I restart the app. I already contacted support about that.

I did not know there were different language installers for the games. I am currently downloading Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which has various language options (fully voiced), but I did not get to choose the language when downloading the installer. Therefore I assume that I will get the installer with all languages.

Your browser language is what determines the installer language, it's not something users normally see.
In game default may be set via it, or not. If game gives language options in the Menu, they are not removed.

Some games, you choose language before install, and then the installer gives you the choice first.
These are mostly the older games, where game language was region specific, and you only got that language.
GOG had to work around this, by offering the choice before install.

The only reason I know the backend language selection exists is because I use Grabit, a Pale Moon port of the old Flashget extension for Firefox pre v57 when useful extensions were ditched, and I ditched Firefox.
I don't see other languages, all GOG installers BIN files are named the same for every game;
en1installer#
Where # starts @ 0 (Not 1 like the full BIN names)

I'm using logic to extrapolate that other languages will start with a different 3 letter code, not actually tested that.

One caveat all chrome clones (including Edge, and Firefox) use Google owned code standards, not actual industry wide, open Web Standards, meaning websites may break on smaller browsers, because the site stray from those open web standards other browsers follow.
So I reluctantly have Firefox as a Backup, if needed for some sites while Pale Moon plays catch up.

Grabit (or Flashget) will show all links on the tab (even all tabs, but that often just makes finding what you want harder), or all direct on the page content (images HTML files etc)

Many images on pages are really thumbnails linked to full size images.
For this reason the Links tab is all I really bother with, and usually your best choice.
Downloads are always links.

Outside of GOG installer downloads problem, it can be very useful, getting all full size images on any tab, is my usual use. Anywhere there's lots of download links, on any page, even if spread all over, like file links in different forum posts

I prefer useful browsing to safe, and boring chrome clones, but If I mess up, I will also fix my own mistakes.
That's what most "power users" do, learning from the mistakes is part of the experimental process.

Tosnic: I did not know there were different language installers for the games.
It's not the same for all games. Some games have multilingual installers, in that case you always download the english one.
However, the site remembers your choice - if you made any. Even if my system language is german, GOG shows me the links to English downloads.

I should probably do the same at some point on my Windows box too just to be better informed as well.

I'm a long time fairly minimalist Ubuntu user (although users of even lighter distros might consider that statement an oxymoron) and I just like to keep my machines clean.

Nothing will make me uninstall something faster than seeing it pop up when I boot my machine like some pesky ad. I'm just afraid Galaxy will be another of those invasive apps that behave as if it owns the machine, possibly messing with my offline installers and a general pain to scrub off once it is installed.

By default it's not great, but you can control it much better than the other Store Clients, one warning, like every store client, Desktop shortcut, you open Store Client, then it starts your game via it's GOG ID.

Easy manual edit, to just launch the game via it's EXE, but I tend to make my Own Icons anyway,
Using a standad square Template Made by Harry Bana my avatar uses it as well but full size Images are 1024×1024 Pixels though current Shortcuts are about Extra Large Icons size, hard to say as you can use Ctrl+Mouse Wheel to change size to whatever you want, mine might be a bit larger

I'm also very biased to female form, and characters
(Hint: Cyberpunk character selector is most like my reality if you catch my drift).

From my Single Player Perspective Galaxy is by for the best Store Client, but that's a very low bar to rise above, in my view.

You can tell it where your game is installed, but it's set up for C:/GOG Games\ by Default, and like all store clients works best if you don't try to mix, and match with offline installs.

You can have a different Library SORT Name, and a DISPLAY name, which is great for keeping series together that don't start with the same name or order series in relese
GOG Galaxy Defaults

Daggerfall Unity

Elder Scrolls Adventures Redguard
Elder Scrolls Arena
Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall
Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind GOTY Edition
Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Game of the Year Edition Deluxe
Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim Special Edition

My custom installs (Note as these are opened by Must have Script Extenders ObSE, SkSE64, F3SE NVSE) using Mod Organzer (Virtual File System Manager), For Morrowind+, I never bother with Game Shortcuts for these, and have custom Mod Organizer+Game Shortcuts for all the BGS (Bethesda Games Studios) Games. Plus to add to the complexity, the Final Folder is a Symbolic Link to the actual game location, but even the offline Installers get told this is where the game is.

This means I can move the games around, and just point the Symbolic Link to the new place, and Installer+DLC still put files where they need to go , and I point Shortcuts here, and they "Just Work".
It's maximum movability, with minimum effort system that no store client can track without my help.
So when they demand a set folder, name like Steam, it gets what it needs, yet my system is maintained.

This ignores the Many Mod Organizer Profiels (each would be a fresh install without that Powerful Mod Manager.
That's just one game series, though one of the most heavily modded ones, I have hundreds modded to lesser extents, some as complex.

So you can see why I never trust Store Clients, and want full control, over a heavilly customised, and unique setup, I'm also a little obsessed with keeping games installed, just In case I feel like running it right now. When modding a game takes many hours of work, uninstalling is best avoided.

Just for keeping Vanilla games updated, Galaxy does a very good job, if you only use Galaxy.
Basically much like any Mod Manager, it manages what it installs very well.
You can install Galaxy games anywhere, it has the default path set, but you can ignore that, unlike every other Store Client.
It also does a grand job, picking up manual installs, if you let it take over from then.
If I had to use Galaxy, like all other Store Clients it's the best of the lot for me.
It's optional though, and I gladly opt out.

Tosnic: Hi.

I am having trouble downloading games using JDownloader. I copy the link provided on gog.com for a single game file, but it seems that JDownloader cannot find the game file under that link. Instead, it shows several files, including galaxy client .exe and galaxy .apk.
I tried giving JDownloader my login for gog.com, but the result is the same. JDownloader is on the latest version (Build date: September 2022).
I would use gog galaxy to download, but it stops the download after I put my pc to sleep (after wakeup).

So how do I download games from GOG using jdownloader nowadays?
In case anyone is googling this issue, here's the easy solution. Instead of parsing the link of the game info page - start downloading the file through the browser, then copy the download link from your browser's download page. Works for me:
