It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

What are you downloading with.
If you are downloading with either Galaxy or GOG Downloader check if you have Download speed limited (bandwidth limit active)?

The issue also may be temporary? How long are you having the issue for?

Apparently its browser-only problem. I always donwloaded things through my browser so it was strange that now its so slow. I got the downloader and its already finished. Thanks for help.

Alternatively you can use any good download manager out there and it should help immensely. I've started using DownThemAll! for Firefox and no longer have any issues.
OH WOW YOU HAVE 857Mb/s internet AUSTRALIANS COULD ONLY DREAM OF THOSE SPEEDS we get 4MB/s TOPS WELL I DO!

Yeah, my internet is only around 100Mb/s (12.5MB/s). I didn't even know 857Mb/s was possible.

Is 4MB so bad?
You guys can use internet at wish, something that some cities in the world don't have.
It could be much worse, think about it.
And unless you want to become a streamer for example, having an internet with super speed is not really necessary or that much beneficial to your life.
Or perhaps you really dig MMOs and NEED to have them 24/7. On the good side, even that luxury you can have, depending on the game we're talking about, naturally.
If you think 4MB is bad you guys never tried to play multiplayer with dial-up internet in 2000.

I guess it is the new gigabit connections that are coming available here too for end-users. I see the posters on bus stops here where they are advertising it, so apparently they have now became affordable enough for normal customers too.

Sure it would be nice, but i don't feel like paying extra for one, for now. I manage with 10Mbit/s (1.2 MBytes/s) for now which I get "free" included in housing costs.

If I really want to go crazy, I use my 4G mobile connection which reaches about 30-40 Mbit/s at my home (no download limit, thankfully), like last weekend when I was downloading about 230GB of GOG game installers using both connections at the same time! How weird is that, huh?!?

I know, right?

Two days ago I was helping a young relative of mine moving to his new apartment, The only internet connection he has available for now even for his computer is through his mobile phone. While it has a 4G contract, for some reason it was very slow in that area, apparently in some blind spot. I tested it with speedtest.net, and he was getting only something like 500kbits/s there. Maybe some basic internet browsing can be done with that nowadays, but that's that.

I guess he needs to change his mobile operator, as with my 4G from a different operator, I got a healthy 50Mbits/s there. I used my mobile connection (as a mobile wifi hotspot) to e.g. update his new TV's firmware online, while I was there. It would have taken ages with his connection.

Internet? What is this sorcery? I remember when I used to call a friend and we'd play via direct dial-up on our phone modems. Not too long though or our parents would get angry that we're blocking the phone lines :P. We also had to take turns on who is calling who to split the phone bills equally. Sounds like ancient history now.
Well, there is the theoretical limit and then there is the actual bandwidth limit.
My theoretical limit is quite good, but in actual use it falls way, way below that.
Comcast has 1000mb download speeds now but that doesn't mean much when everything goes through whatever the other providers are providing. Confirmed available max speed in Windows. I will have to time it when I get around to F4 again.
Just ran a couple of internet speed tests and it isn't any faster than before. 120mb download. Nowhere close to a GB.

Wondering if the new speeds require new equipment or is Comcast blowing smoke.

Did you try e.g. speedtest.net. did it give "only" 120Mbit/s?

It is good to check from the operator if different kind of router/modem/whatever is needed for the (theoretical) max speed, or even if the current device needs to be set up differently? For example, my fixed line internet operator has already instructed that if one wants to upgrade from our basic 10Mbit/s to 100Mbit/s, one should switch their cable modem configuration away from the NAT mode to bridged mode, as otherwise the speeds might not reach the full increased speed (the downside is then that you can only have max five devices online at the same time in bridged mode (as the operator gives you max five public IP addresses), and of course you don't get the extra protection from NAT...). So I am wondering if there is something similar with upgrading to the 1Gbit/s speeds?

Also I am unsure, are these 1Gb lines normally shared with others, ie. you might get much worse speeds on busy hours than in the middle of the night, even if the remote server could provide content to you at full speed? I know that's what constantly happens with my mobile connection, e.g. yesterday day time it was around 20 Mbit/s, and at night (after 1am or so) it jumped to 60Mbit/s or so (the highest I've seen it at my home; elsewhere I've sometimes had it up to well over 100Mbit/s even on day time).

No, its not that bad.
However, I subscribe to the highest consumer level plan my ISP offers. And then its megabit, not megabyte, so 1/8th.
then there is speed reduction after data caps are reached. Until recently watching HD videos was a problem. :p

But I guess it's better than what many have to live with. Certainly not complaining here.

Mobile data is still capped here. Thankfully it has improved in the recent times. Now it is affordable to have plans with daily 1-3 gigs of data. Earlier it cost same to have that much data for a month.
