HeresMyAccount: Y'all keep saying that the downloader isn't supported anymore, but I've read that Galaxy will never be required and they'll always give everyone the option to download whichever way we want.

This seems to be contradictory, unless it's like saying, "Well, you can smash your head into a sharp rock and kill yourself, but we don't support that."
As Marko noted, you can DL without using Galaxy or the DLer, so there's no contradiction.

HereForTheBeer: That's exactly what we've been trying to use: browser to get to the Donwloader links, and gOg Downloader as the download manager.
He meant a third-party download manager that can be used for things besides GOG downloads.

What about adding an Achievement Editor to Galaxy? So people can create their own achievements, share them with or challenge their friends, and maybe even edit the achievements that already exist for other games (that use Galaxy for their achievements)?

"Achievement Unlocked: Created at least 10 new achievements for each owned game."
"Achievement Unlocked: Downloaded GOG Downloader with Galaxy."

The way I see it is that they are not actively working on code changes to the gog downloader but! they are keeping the links working on their side so that the downloader can still work. Keeping links working is file maintenance and not actually doing code work on the downloader.

Soooo.... they don't code anymore on the downloader but they still maintain the link support. Those links, in theory, could be used by some other download manager if it was set up to work with those kind of links. At least that is the way that I see it.

Thank you for keeping the back links alive and still able to be used with the downloader. It makes my life much easier when downloading games from GOG.
