Hey, I'd rather not use GOG Galaxy as I previously had problems with it and I have no real need for it so I was just wondering if any of you use any good, reputable download managers? I used to use flash get myself but it hasn't been updated in quite a while and I'd rather use something that is being maintained regularly. Internet isn't exactly fast and I'd like something that could reliably resume a download that stopped due to the connection being lost (wind is bad here at the minute, knocks off internet every so often). Thanks!

Try the GOG downloader: https://www.gog.com/downloader It's no longer supported by GOG, but it still works.

For slow network, I think Firefox + DownThemAll is the best for common user.
I personally use gogrepo.py + wget.

lgogdownloader is also a good download manager for GOG games.

Why do you need a manager in the first place, browser downloads work fine, have done for years. Manage files yourself.

Browser download can't resume files stopped due to lost connection. Something like DownThemAll is pretty necessary.

Also, does DownThemAll work with the new Firefox? It was broken last I checked.

But is it possible to pause downloads without a download manager? Also as far as I know the browser will normally try to download all games at once making the download rather slow and if you want a specific game to be downloaded first you have to download them separately. At least these are my experiences (but maybe I just don#t know Firefox good enough).

Normally I use gogdownloader and for other sites I use jdownloader.

You should really sort out your internet then, I have probably had 1 file download issue in the last hundred or more. It's not the 1980s any more! Although oddly enough the various vpns do occasionally drop out. If you plan when you download things, then only an emergency should make you need to pause. Yes, it will try to download all at the same time, hence why I make good use of the quad band wireless reciever in the machine to get maximum download. If your using one of those cheap wireless dongles then it's not supposing there is so many drop outs and other issues.

Okay guys, I'll have a look through what you all suggested and I'll certainly be able to make use of one or more of them. To the guy who suggested I manage files myself: It has nothing to do with file management. Due to my location, which cannot be helped at this current moment, internet services are sub-standard at best and browser downloads tend to fail if interrupted even if only for a brief moment. This can be quite annoying with games 5-6gb in size which may take an hour or two to download and I'd rather not waste my time. So as you can see a download manager is pretty useful in my case, I imagined anyone with a brain cell would have been able to infer this much or at the very least if they did and it bothered them for some reason, they wouldn't bother making a stupid remark but oh well!

Do you stay logged in on GOG while downloading? Do you use FDM's browser plugin?

I've not used a download manager since the days of DSL/when Opera was on it's own engine instead of being Vivaldi.

My internet isn't the problem. If you read the OP, you'd see his is a problem. I was only offering a solution for the problem presented that did not involve being an elitist dick.

I'm using Firefox 58 + FDM 5.1 and there's an add on if you wanted to fully integrate it. The alternative to it is to pause and get the download link, cancel it and add it manually to FDM.

I usually stay log on, but the download didn't stop if I close the browser.
