Tarnicus: Yeah about 8 hours, including lunch and drinks breaks for a 1 day match, which the current World Cup matches are. Nothing on a 5 day test match though! I generally only watch 20/20 (20 overs per side) matches if I watch it at all, and they take about 3-4 hours.
Indeed T20 matches are more exciting and watchable since people can spare three hours without feeling like they wasted their whole day. I still watch matches for the T20 World Cup when it comes around every couple of years.

j0ekerr: FOOTBALL MANAGER
My rage knows no bounds!

Fact: I know people who buy a console and only one game a year.

That game is FIFA.
Every time I look at Steam stats and see that Football Manager game it baffles my mind that there are that many people out there that like football that there are that many people that like football video games that there are that many people playing football on Steam to keep it high on the most played games list. ;) Admittedly I'm not a sports fan and I don't know barely anyone that even likes football IRL, so it's just about as odd to me as if say the game "I Am Bread" became #4 on Steam constantly. But... I guess lots of people really do like football or it simply wouldn't be there. Unless.... unless the Football Manager 2015 game itself sucks rocks but it is moddable and people are loading Homer Simpson and Japanese porn mods into the game or something. Hrm...

stg83: The current World Cup started on Feb 14 and is going to last till 29th March which is almost month and a half so yeah it is quite long indeed. :)
Thanks for the time frame :) As I'm (hopefully) going camping on March 16th, looking at 2 weeks or so for this sojourn, I will miss all the finals! Maybe I'll try to get back for the final if I can :)

Turtlesaur: there is more :D

28,820 61,430 Football Manager 2015
6,137 12,806 Football Manager 2014

both FM 2015 and FM 2014 are in top 20 :P
Indeed! And if I remember correctly, if you go through the whole list I think 2013 and 2012 are in there too. I didn't check just now but a month or two back I noticed them all, so somebody out there friggen loves their football! :)

Or you can do it the old fashioned way and listen to the commentary on the radio i.e. if the signals will be available where you're headed. :)

I'll have to check when the IPL is on, I really enjoy the T20 as teams are made up from players from all around the world. We have our own version of it here called the Big Bash, which was pretty exciting this year. MunkiSiren has even started watching it with me :)

It may have sometihng to do with the lack of alternatives and/or the realism of the game. Everton FC uses (uesd?) the game database for scouting:

Too bad there's no cricket on german tv. I got hooked on vacation a while ago, and I have to admit it did take some time for me to actually understand what's going on.
Is there by any chance someone who missed out on Indiana Jones?
GONE!

I have no idea of what signal I can pick up where I am headed. It is very isolated. Listening to it on the radio with kangaroos and snakes would be a nice change lol

I don't really care for football or basketball, but back on the PS1 and PS2, I always enjoyed those games (both, the actual sports games AND the manager games). They were pretty good back then. But I don't know how they are today...

real.geizterfahr: Those are the top 20 of most played games on Steam??? I own exactly one of those games (Skyrim) which I didn't even like O.O Guess I'll have to remove those PC Master Race stickers from my PC...
Hrm, of the current top 20 games on Steam, it looks like I own 8 of them (all the Valve ones + Skyrim + Warframe + Civ 5), however Skyrim is the only one I've sunk more than 2 or 3 hours into and some of them I haven't really played at all. ;)
avatar
huN73R: Not sure if it spills over to 10 though, I think it would end within 8 hours due to over rate restrictions. Still is lot longer than soccer match.
It sure feels like more then 8 hours sometimes though during those slow boring middle overs. ;)
avatar
Tarnicus: The current cricket World Cup has more teams in it that usual. It is the first time I have seen Afghanistan play. I believe it will take months to complete!

But the good side is that when you love this, you have plenty of match to see aaaaall the day :D It's very interesting to see that in France, almost nobody talk about this sport. Here it is mainly football, tennis and rugby. A lot shorter ^^ Except for tennis of course which could last "long" too.
Are the matchs like in tennis, without official time limit ?
