stg83: The reason for the slow start might be that there are two games instead of just one like it was in all previous insomia promos. Once you give people a choice they don't feel as compelled to buy just to see the next one probably.

IAmSinistar: That could be too. Plus it's a Monday, kind of an odd day to start the sale.

I think it's a combination of factors, including how long it takes the news to get around. Also, GOG probably should have started with two high-demand games, in order to jolt the news into spreading faster. Hopefully we'll see things pick up soon.

It will be interesting to see which category moves more quickly.
Isn't there an automatic countdown built into the counters? In case of a Keaning incident, to make sure that it never happens again.

CarrionCrow: Also, the info's still getting out. Less than two hours ago, no one anywhere had a clue what was coming aside from the people at GOG Central.
Which makes no sense in terms of marketing. But then, this is GOG...

CarrionCrow: When the first Insomnia hit, I had less than 20 games. Now I'm more than halfway to 600.

phaolo: I own half of yours, but I wonder if I'll ever catch my wishlisted games in these sales now.. :O
You've got better odds than I do, that helps. =)
Driftmoon has been on sale so many times, figure most people have it by now that even consider it. I'm a little surprised Bad Mojo isn't selling quicker. Very nice discount for a very unique game.

As far as I remember the insomnia promos have always started on a week day, part of the reason why some folks aren't really impressed with this format.

katya_stevens: The last one was on a Monday, if I recall. I remember it because my husband and I were due to go out for dinner, he got waylaid by work, and I picked up Race The Sun on the promo thanks to him being late.
Could be. And I probably said it was an odd choice then, too. :D

I don't believe so. Other sales had that, but Insomnia items stay up until they sell out. The sale itself has a time frame, so basically, the faster the games sell, the more titles that are offered.
I already own Driftmoon and I'm not really interested in Bad Mojo, so I'll just (im)patiently wait for the next ones. :P
Wondering how long round 1 for both sections will take to complete.

If I can nail everything the first time through, the rest is cake.
Let the fun begin! :D

eh. i don't like it because:

there's a limited number of "digital items" which is crazy all by itself.

there sometimes "isn't enough time" to formulate an opinion on a game [to gog's advantage]

it encourages "bad behaviour" in the sense that people stay up way past when they should to see if they can snap up a game. [not a good sales tactic, i feel.]

with the last promo, they had freebies. these were quite limited in stock and most people who wanted them got gog-bear'd because bots were [repotedly] nnija'ing the games.

some games stall the promo completely [cf: jack keane]

it's just not a good format at all, to my mind.

^This, in reverse. =P

This one has "random free buys", which have worked well in other sales. Basically, when you go to buy a game, there's a chance you'll get it for free instead.

So by halfway to 600, I'm assuming you don't mean 300...
Wowee, first game up is Driftmoon, one I've had on my wishlist for a long time, and when I click on it I find out I get it for free. Critical hit indeed!

I enjoy insomnia sales, and this one's off to a good start for me! :D
