penumbren: *snip*I'll admit to a large bias toward female toons in WoW because I'm not that fond of their male designs, but that's actually a rarity for me. *snip*

I actually like well-done romcoms... but those are very rare these days. I also like a well-done drama... but my go-to movies for background noise, random fits of being bored, or "what looks good at the theater" are generally action-oriented things. My husband got me into martial arts movies (he was nearly a black belt in kajikenbo (which I know I just spelled wrong) when he was younger), and I fell in love. I also blame him for my love of Godzilla flicks and their cousins. I grew up with two uncles who taught martial arts when I was much, much younger, so I know just little enough to catch a lot of the humor in filmed fights. Similarly, when the husband and friends got into backyard wrestling some years back, with another friend who'd gone to a wrestling school, I learned enough to appreciate the very hard work that pro wrestlers put in while still being able to laugh (sometimes a LOT) at the moves on tv. It doen't make me like watching pro wrestling any less, though it can sometimes be a challenge to set the knowledge aside and just 'be a mark' for the few hours it lasts.

Speaking of emotional tales... have you ever seen the film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence? It's about POWs during WWII and is a decidedly not-happy drama that I can only watch ever so often, but it is a marvelous movie.

And my, I can blabber on. Apologies to those in the thread whom I've just bored to death! :)
Okay, reply time :) Thea just got home, hence my delay :) Aesthetics for me play a big part in character design in RPGs too! I played WoW for 6 years, quite intensively; I had over 1 year /played time on my main and an assortment of alts. Most of my characters ended up being female as I wasn't fond of the chunky art style. I guess I prefer my own lithe body type for male characters, just as I do when appreciating healthy male bodies, the HGH/Steroid body type versus an athletic V-shape look vastly different and area also vastly different in what they can actually do. It took me a lot of experience to realise the advantages of both, and I'll take endurance, speed and long-term strength over gassing out any day! Anyway, that's me tangenising as a good friend of mine would say :)

I should clarify that I like what I consider to be "well done romcoms" too rather than er...vacuous shite :P I like stories that actually show a bit of realism, no matter the genre. I think my experiences with my grandfather and other war veterans, combined with violence being the most common means to conflict resolution and the glorification of it (i.e. the "hero" is a serial killer who gets the "prize" i.e. the girl and wealth) is such an over-used and simplified concept, that I find it quite boring and idiotic to watch these days. I still do enjoy a well done action film, especially if it has a decent plot!

I haven't seen the movie you recommended and will take a look, cheers for the recommendation :)

Tarnicus: It doesn't really matter as you will swap to another account but this one you are using will be recognised :)

amrit9037: Oh no sir, What really matter is I am in your mind!
And you remember me.
I've offered to give you attention under your other accounts if you need it but you've never taken me up on the offer. You're not on my mind, with the exception of me being fascinated by humans. You're in my sight, which is different, and until GOG introduce a block feature, you're welcome to say g'day anytime you wish. Intelligence combined with no outlet for expressing it socially besides being a shit-stirer doesn't usually end well. Manipulating others attracts harsh lessons and is a pretty isolated existence. There is only so long that "stuff" or temporary relationships can fulfill the void within. You might understand that concept in a decade or so if you manage to seriously connect on a sincerely intimate level with another human being.

Life will teach you what you need to know, and there is far more to be gained by learning the lessons life offers.
Hey fellas, does anyone need a key for the Witcher 2? I just realized I got a spare one!
