Tannath: Try The Banner Saga too.

Please...

Oh, I did. The two times it has appeared.
No luck.

skeletonbow: I was fortunate enough to download all of the Cinemaware games for free a number of years ago, probably around 2005 or so from their website where they had their entire historical game catalogue available for free download for MSDOS, Amiga, Atari, you name it. I still have the entire collection on my hard disk somewhere today. Sadly, at some point they stopped offering the games for free. Same thing happened with the Krondor games and GTA1&2 on Rockstar's website.

The only downside to the original downloads they offered for free is that you have to make them run on Windows 7 yourself instead of having the nice snazzy GOG installer. :)

GhostwriterDoF: Ah, a nice haul, indeed

Perhaps they will start developing new games and make these titles available for free again, or at a more reasonable price, individually or in bundles, as an incentive for purchases of their new games. Or include the originals for free as Extra's with re-mastered versions.

It seems like all the publishers are becoming more open to digital distribution options, outside of Steam. :)
Sure seems it is picking up momentum that way. GOG is adding more games more often at a quickly growing pace. Not that many months ago I extrapolated the rate of game growth to predict 1000 games by the end of 2015 or so, and things have picked up since then where now a more realistic guess would be 1000 games by the end of March or mid-April. The current growth I think will expand further once Galaxy client and services are completed and launched and they do promos to promote the new service/software and draw more clientelle and in turn more developers and games. 2015 is shaping up to be the year of the GOG. :)

I was wishing for a crit on something like Banished, X-Wing or Dragonfall, but got this instead. :-D

Anyway, check you pm. ;-)

But you are talking about joysticks. You do know what that literally translates to in German, right. ;-)

The_Blog: In Germany we spell it like it is written. So not "day-us" but instead "Deus Ex". But you have to keep in mind that the "e" and the "u" in german sound different than in the english language. In the english language the "e" is more pronounced like our "i", while we pronounce "e" more like in the word "escape". I struggle to find a good example for the "u" in the english language right now.
That's what I thought too. Latin is pronounced as they are written, so everyone here were calling it "Deh-ous Ex".

Yeah I think that is how we pronounce it too. I wonder sometimes with how much Italian accent the latin language was originally spoken.

apehater: well ok its an assumption, that whatever disney paid for the full package (rights, games, movies ...) brought more than double of the investment price as profit, already before tie fighter and x-wing were released here on gog. so with higher discounts and 5.99 base price for this 2 games, it woulnd't stop disney from making profit. but i don't know the facts and its just my assumption, based on the well known financial success of the star wars trademark.
avatar
yyahoo: I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Disney has not made $8 billion dollars in revenue off of Star Wars since they bought it 2 years ago. I'm thinking it will take at least 2 new movies, including home video sales, before they have a chance at making that much revenue on Lucas properties alone, perhaps much more. And those movies will cost a lot to make, so that's a lot of expense just to make that revenue... Disney's Lucas purchase was definitely a long term investment at that price.
i admit $8 billion is a huge amount of money. so you assume disney made a long time investment, that will get profitable after 5 or more years?

I find this conversation amusing. I somehow don't think GOG's sales price on Lucasarts games is going to make any significant difference to Disney's profits, unless they start charging $10,000,000 per copy.
