Got everything from my account backed up. Pity to see them go, but then again, my last purchase was Bloodlines...5 years ago. >_>

It's unfortunate they announced the closure after you couldn't buy anything anymore, or I would've gone for the Commandos collection. Ah, well, there's still the Zoom store, I guess.

timppu: Goodbye DotEmu, I guess I won't be visiting you anymore after this. I so much hope I had bought all the Sudden Strike games from your store when I still had the chance... :( Hopefully they appear to GOG at some point.
If you aren't willing to wait for them to show up on GOG, you can also buy them DRM-Free from the Zoom Platform:
https://www.zoom-platform.com/#store

In fact, the Zoom Platform has a more complete Sudden Strike collection than DotEmu did.

That is until they die of obscurity as well. Never heard of this site before. Looking at the games they have on offer, they seem little more than DotEmu's even poorer cousin. Just saying.

Worth a go, you think?

Yes. I never buy my games from just one source.

Even GOG will meet that fate one day. It won't stop me from buying what I want before that happens.

Why is that? Got me thinkin'. Probably 'cause I don't go out and dine on the same places, heh.

timppu: Now I have everything I have on DotEmu redownloaded. 46.9GB. The speed varied, sometimes (last Sunday morning) I got pretty poor download speeds, but now I got over 3 Mbytes/s, at least when i downloaded several files at the same time. When downloading one file at a time, it seemed to come at best at 1.7 Mbytes/s or so.
Same speeds in here. Just backed mine, 17gb.

Yeah.

I... I....

c ya, then ;(
It would have been lovely if DotEmu had actually emailed their users about this. Instead I got to find out about it after a PC wipe when I went to redownload my stuff from DotEmu. Haven't had any reply from their support.

Oh shit, wow that's not very customer friendly. Of course they don't give a shit about the reputation of the store any more but still...

I hope they'll help you out. I don't think I bought anything there, but if I did I think it'll be backed up.

I'm not sure that's true - they're still in the business of selling games, mostly remasters. I've bought some of their games, most recently the cutesy remaster of Wonder Boy III. After this, I won't be again, and I'll probably raise the black flag.

Reading the responses here, it looks like some people got an email and a lot of people didn't. I wouldn't be suprised if the people who had received an email had been signed up to newsletter emails.

Notifications are really a must there, but on the other hand the possibility to re-download content was always kind of optional and the customer was obliged to archive his purchases on his own accord. To make an analogy: wiping a PC of downloaded installers is like throwing books out of the window.
