Maighstir: On the side of https://www.gog.com/support/master_of_orion_1_2 you have a box titled Contact our support team, the link there should point to https://www.gog.com/support/contact/technical_issues_with_games/master_of_orion_1_2, and works here.
Tahnks. Didn't see that link, the previous one with the same verbiage just ran you back to the beginning. Submitted, we will see what happens.

Grargar: That explains it. Unfortunately, the support links for unbundled games (like Master of Orion 1+2) don't work properly. Try this one.
Edit: Gydion was faster.
Additionally, as mentioned above, there is a problem with other games as well, The Ultimate Doom and Quake: The Offering, among others - both those having a _game at the end of their links that shouldn't be there and which makes the contact support link not work (remove the _game, and everything's fine).

I'm an idiot and just made this post in the wrong thread, along with a part of a right post in said thread LOL. Where are you games installed? I'm not too up to date on DosBox issues but here's what I wrote in the other thread:

OP - silly question - are you running as Admin? Sounds to me like the issue is with DosBox having problems writing back to disc / directory to run the game.

Maybe do a test - install a DosBox GoG game to some simple directory like "C:\GoGgames\GameX" and run it as admin.

Maybe you're saving / installing your games in a funny directory (ProgramFilesX86) or with a long / complicated directory name ( \goggamebaldursgate#bestgameva!?!?LOLZ ). Some old Dosbox games don't like this and / or Windows might not want to give dosbox permission to write to subdirectories like these.

It is in programfiles(x86) - default install location. I thought I tried running as admin.

Running DosBox as admin gives:

"CONFIG:Loading primary settings from config file C:\Users\sempronius\AppData\Local\DOSBox\dosbox-0.74.conf
MIDI:Opened device:win32
One joystick reported, initializing with 4axis"

I bet this is it - try reinstalling somewhere else.

NOT in x86

what input devices do you have connected? If any, have you tried disconnecting all except keyboard / mouse?
If it's a persistent problem across all games it sounds more like software / hardware conflict with the emulator itself, not the games.

Maighstir: Tell me one of the games, and I'll find you the support link for it.

Not being able to play MoO is BAAAAD.

Its an xbox 360 One controller
avatar
zachnap: When I run DosBox program alone the boot window gets to the controller detection and just hangs.
Just as Thiev, I think this is probably the culprit. Some USB device causing problems for DOSBox joystick detection possibly? If it is a game like MOO 1+2 which probably doesn't need a joystick or a gamepad, edit dosbox config file and change

joysticktype=none

If the game needs a joystick or an analog gamepad, then try different options for the joystick, like setting

joysticktype=4axis

I had to do that for e.g. Privateer, otherwise the game music would run too slowly (otherwise the game worked though), if I had set that option to "auto".

OK, I changed the joystick from 'auto' to 'none' and the games are loading, however, there is no keyboard input now. :) But progress...

Could you maybe think about fixing the broken support links one of these days? It's been like that for ages, and it doesn't exactly scream "we care deeply about our customers".

It's out of my hands and multiple inquiries so far has been ignored.

Yeah sorry, that was "you" as in GOG, not "you" as in "you personally".

*sigh* Seems like GOG's priorities are still as screwed up as they've been for years.

General rule of thumb when using windows, never install anything to windows directories, create a folder on your drive, maybe called c:\games and install there. Also avoid spaces or special characters in the install path. As your using win10, check the compatability list for each game, some are not.compatible.
