InkPanther: If you're asking about GOG games: they come with DOSBox and are configured to run with it from the get go. Just start the game and it should work.
stonehand: Can you add nonGOG games to this version of DosBox? I have several of the old Battletech/ Mechwarrior games that I would like to play, but cannot get them to run under Win7. That is why I was wondering.
You can use whichever version of DOSBox you want. It probably would be the best to have the newest from DOSBox website.
According to
Compatibility list most of those games should work. But setting it up would require a bit of tinkering, because it takes more work than just pointing to an .exe file to run a game using DOSBox.
Well, it kind of amounts to that I suppose, but you'll have to create a new .config file for each game, which will tell it which files/file directories to mount, from which directory to start which exe, you'll have to choose render options, tinker with amount of cycles, perhaps set up sound, all that fun stuff.
To be honest, I've never done it from ground up and I don't have those games, so I'm not the best person to ask how to set them up.
