It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

OldFatGuy: It's set up right.
Your browser leaves black bars or gets stretched? Doesn't sound right. I have to say, that symptom suggests you haven't changed your desktop resolution to match the monitor.

Any chance you could post a photo? Obviously a screenshot isn't going to show the problem...

No, the browser thing was my fault and I fixed that. The game behavior however was as I stated.

Plus, if there was confusion in this thread it was, AS ALWAYS my fault. It turns out I used the EXACT WRONG LANGUAGE to describe this monitor. I just learned that these monitors are considered "ULTRA WIDE" and that other monitors are considered "WIDE" so I can see why folks were confused.

I apologize to all. I am just getting too confused with severe memory issues and really should just stop posting but then... I forget that I should stop posting and.. damn I hate this. I saw my grandfather and father go through this. Both spent their last several years in a nursing home completely GONE from this world. Dementia so bad they couldn't even be communicated with. I will try to remember this time not to post anymore (LOL wonder how much chance of that?)

Thank everyone here for all of the help. You guys are awesome. Probably the best forums I was ever priviliged to post on and read on. Thank you so much. Keep on gaming and remember... there's more to life than work. Play (or leisure if you prefer a better term) is as much a necessary part of life as sleep and shelter. So Play on...

Peace.

ariaspi: I think he's talking about Ultrawide monitors (21:9).
I saw one of those before. What are they good for, anyway? To watch Ben Hur in its native aspect ratio?

For work - if you do not have space for the second monitor (which is mostly better) then you can use such wide one.

Ahh, well that makes sense. Cheers!

Don't beat yourself up over this. I saw the same thing happen to my grandmother. She was basically a shuffling zombie for the last 10 years of her life. And if I hit the jackpot in the genetic lottery, I may suffer a similar fate. I have an attention span of about 5 seconds and once a thought is gone, it's gone for good (sometimes I pick up on an earlier thought hours, weeks, sometimes years later - "Oh, THAT'S what I was going to do!"). Sometimes I hit the little x at the top left after writing a lengthy forum post because I feel that upon closer inspection it reads like barely-coherent word salad. But the worst thing you can do is drive yourself crazy about it. Just because your memory gets messier with age doesn't necessarily mean you're showing signs of dementia. And not being aware of the distinction between a widescreen and an ultra widescreen monitor, that's nothing to resign from the forum over. ;)

No need to apologize - at least some of us can relate because we've had friends or family go through the same thing. I know it usually gives you the feeling that it's something that comes with old age and you can't really prevent, sort of like a roadblock you're going to hit eventually even if your foot is on the brake, but that's not necessarily true - sometimes music can do wonders, especially relaxing and listening to your favorite songs (eyes closed!) can help with focus and memory.

Give it a shot next time you're feeling particularly forgetful. And more importantly, stay safe and game on!

P.S.: I also think you shouldn't stop posting. Stay a while longer, we have milk and cookies.
