rgnrk: I like indies. So I can't really agree with the OP.

Actually, all the late backlash against indies sounds just like industry speak and hype getting through gamers. The real gems are in the indie side, IMHO. Photo realistic multimillion dollar graphics with no character and standard repetitive gameplay.
People complain about indies because most of those fit with this description, but using pixel "art" instead. It has nothing to do with AAA gaming, it's just indies tend to be bad. If GOG allowed more and more indiegames GOG would end up looking like an extension of Google Play's store, just like Steam.

Chacranajxy: I'd rather have Dark Souls.

timppu: The best suggestion so far. These are the kind of games I wish to appear on GOG the most. Darksiders 1-2, the Metro games and Saints Row 3 were a good start, more of this (a few years old AAA titles).

I am definitely not against good-quality indies either, yes there are those too, some of them even feel like AAA quality, or at least AA.

Maniac Mansion at the like... yeah, fine I guess, but I am pretty sure I wouldn't play them anymore. More just to check them out for historical reasons.
Dark Souls seems like a pretty ideal middle ground, honestly. It's a newer game, but unabashedly old-school in its design, and it's a pretty unique game that hasn't been replicated.

Oh, and it's fucking great.

Is there a worst ratio of good vs bad games in indies? Probably. Especially if you consider all the scam crap / learning games / one hour projects being sold on steam as indie games. I don't consider them games at all.
But, there's quite a margin between the extreme curation in gog store, versus the everything goes, on steam. And a lot of great indie games get lost in that gap.
On the other hand, if instead of pixel art you put AAA "art", then everyone's craving for those games. One just have to look at GOGs own wishlists.

The game industry is very similar to the movie industry, in that big AAA games are like blockbuster movies. Big, expensive and flashy, but with no real substance nor risk taking. So most games play the same, look the same, and the scripts are similar. Blockbusters can be entertaining, but to me, the best movies (and the worst ones) are always the art house / independent ones. And unfortunately the game industry doesn't have the Oscars, which is kind of a middle ground. All our prizes go to AAA blockbusters...

And anyway, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZOUYrBfXhc.
While not exactly my cup of whiskey, today's offerings are...acceptable. Things that people have wanted and are not indies. Now, let's keep it up next week! ^.^

Doc0075: Lots of games mentioned that I really want (Dark Sun! Dark Sun! Dark Sun!)
Dark Sun!!!! I still kick myself to this day that I never bought them at the store when I saw them, and then they were gone.
Give me DarkSouls 2 with cross server functionality and Dishonored,I'd be content for awhile.

If they got Dishonored here it would become the first game I would own here that I also have on steam (notice I don't call that own!) I really want to get Dark Souls too (I've not played it), and it would jump to near the top of my to-get list if it came here. Though if Dark Sun games were also here it wouldn't supersede them! Full Throttle already would be swell (oh yeah they're remastering it, nooooooooo!!!!!!)

Actually, there is a real problem with the original post in this topic. It basically reinforces the mistaken and sexist idea that masculinity is better than femininity.

The only thing it reinforces is the OP's opinion. And why do masculinity and femininity have to be better than the other? Every other reply out of your mouth seems to be a thesis on gender-nomics. Is that the only filter through which you see life? Bit limiting, all things being... equal.

The idea is that neither masculinity nor femininity should be better than the other.

Also, I do talk about other things. See, for example, my posts about game mechanics on some subforums (like my explanation on how to cast super spells in Morrowind).

One problem is that many of the things I am interested in discussing are things that the average person would have no clue about, like why C++ is (not) better than Java. (Should I try making that topic, or is it not worth it on this forum?)

The average person doesn't need a clue about those things. Just because I'm expertly studying medical science doesn't mean I'm smarter than the average bear. You talk to people who are on the same page as you, then the average of those people should be close to your own intelligence.

I guess someone actually read my comment in the other thread.

In any case, it isn't as bad when I can see, in the text, that the link is from youtube.com. The other post I was commenting on had the link be something like click here, meaning that you need to at least hover over the link to see where it goes.

On the other hand, the auto-playing of videos is one thing I dislike about YouTube. Sometimes I just want to look at the video description or comments. (Auto-playing videos discourage the user from reading the description first, as well.)

Of course, there is an obligatory warning: If a video deals with any sort of political or social justice issue, it might not be a good idea to read the comments.
