Shadowstalker16: From what I've heard, its really lean meat that lacks fat. Its to be noted that a very very few snake species have poison in their body itself in addition to venom they use normally. So unless the chef is a good herpetologist I'd stear clear.

monkeydelarge: If only a very very few snake species have poison in their body then why steer clear?
Because that species is common(ish, I think) where snakes are normally consumed.

P1na: I like dogs, but I've only tried one kind. Do different breeds taste any different?
Unfortunately, I'm going home before the local dog eating festival, I was really looking forward to eating my neighbor's poodles.

OK, not really, but if somebody had asked me this months ago I could have found an answer.

???

You said that it's common to find snakes that don't have poison in their bodies so why not eat snakes?

Interesting. In Korea, they seem to only eat one breed. It's quite a tasty breed though.

tinyE: Hitler had a dachshund.
A dachshund that looked suspiciously like a german shepherd apparently...

He also had a dachshund!!! :P

He was the goddamn Fuhrer, I'm sure he was more than capable of owning more than one dog! :P

Given that there was an additional non-dachshund dog in that very picture, he was clearly capable of owning at least THREE. Perhaps more!

Also, in my experience, herding dogs (assorted) tend to be more common vidya companions than german shepherds.

He did indeed.

Fuchsl - Fox Terrier
Prinz - German Shepherd
Muckl - German Shepherd
Blonda I - German Shepherd
Blonda II - German Shepherd
Blondi - German Shepherd
Bella - German Shepherd
Wolf - German Shepherd

This is so ridiculously appropriate, if someone had made it up, you'd be accusing him of breaking willing suspension of disbelief with his cliche ideas...

That's one of Eva Braun's two Scottish Terriers, actually...

Himmler had a Chihuahua named Klause.
Fallout 4 DLC - British Shepherd companion, maybe. :P

I live with a german shepherd sized british shepherd.

legopig: Noticing after the Fallout 4 reveal vid, the German Shepard. Got me thinking, in almost all games and films I can thing of that has a lone hero with a dog companion it is almost always a German Shephard
Well, if you're looking at the "lone hero" theme mainly you might be right, but thinking of the most famous dogs in movies overall - I don't think there's a lot of German shepherds among them. Just think about it - Old yeller, Beethoven, Hachiko, Benji, Lassie... got a nice mixture of breeds there ;) So in the end, maybe it evens itself out...

Maybe it's because the Shepherds have that sinister, no-nonsense look about them? Probably don't get quite the same effect if Will Smith was hunting zombies with a Pomeranian...
How about a Chihuahua? You could run away while the Deathclaw would be choking to death because of the swallowed mutt...

And WHY THE FUCK are there no games with a monkey companion? A monkey companion is the best companion you can have. Much better than a dog or a cat. Can a dog climb a tree and pelt the eyes of your enemies with poo(blinding them and allowing you to have a huge advantage over your enemies)? No. Can a dog, attack from above? No. Can a dog help you make money on a street corner with an organ grinder?
...
In Runaway 2, you can drug a lemur with booze and put him in your inventory. In the Monkey Island series, you could use real monkeys but lemurs are good, too. The lemur in Runaway 2 even has an epic name, "Demon Dog" and it's largely thanks to him that this game is a lot funnier than Runaway 1 and 3.

Technically, Runaway 1 and 3 aren't funny at all, I had to laugh out loud zero times whereas in Runaway 2 I had to laugh several times. It's also much longer than part 1 and 3 and it makes no sense that Runaway 2 gets only 3,5 stars and Runaway 1 gets 4 stars and Runaway 3 gets 4,5 stars. They're all 3,5 star games and the 2nd one is by far the most entertaining. One or two puzzles make little to no sense even with adventure game logic but overall the first game was more aggravating, and the 3rd one is too tame.

Yeah a chihuahua would probably be the most appropriate dog companion not only for a gourmet distraction, the one I unfortunately know from my surroundings has optimized foot-crippling skills which he never hesitates to use on anyone
entering the room.
Furthermore you could deafen your enemy with the piercing voices the dog produces when approaching your supplies which he naturally regards as his own property rather than yours.
He doesn't even need time to recharge his abilities and he strikes as fast as a viper.
Anyway Haunting Ground has a German Shepard, too, but there surely are a lot of games with other dog races...
Rule of Rose features a labrador retriever.
However I would totally tend to choose a more exotic animal or creature whenever possible.
So I'll just play Drakan one more time and enjoy riding and burning everything to ashes on my scaly companion Arokh.
