mike_cesara: Personally I assume if the game was tested and works for the support, the problem lies on my side ; )
Usually everything works out of the box. I think I had problem with Gangsters: Organized Crime only, can't remeber how i fixed the issue with colors but afterwards worked flawlessly.
hedwards: Usually that's the cast. In fact I don't know of any case where they released a game that didn't at least test. Even the in development games have to work.
It seems like the usually issue I see is where there's some sort of glitch that affects only certain hardware. Dungeon Keeper 2 wasn't working at launch on one set of GPUs and I think that was the issue with Blood 2 as well where the accelerated version didn't work on some GPUs.
But, that's why they have the return policy for when things don't work now. Seems awfully generous considering that there's no DRM to prevent people from swapping copies they've already downloaded.
Well, I am speaking for myself only. It just happens I know a few tricks and wouldn't bother support if something doesn't work. On the other hand, my OS was always heavily stripped down with some unusual replacements, would be a living hell for any support to figure out where the problem lies ; )
From my perspective games here are working surprisingly well, no flies on The G-Team I'd say. Of course it's not likely to test any software on every possible configuration, problems happens from time to time. Right now I'm about to finish Fallout 3, didn't experience any issues till now. On the last mission the game crashed several times. But again, OS is not
a pure ms windows and the same with sound and graphic drivers. Not to mention mods I have installed..
Just like you've mentioned, GOG is very generous with their return policy. I wouldn't bend their trust.
