gamesfreak64: true but these are not really considered intelligent life forms so maybe that makes it less bad.
awalterj: A point you'll probably reconsider when aliens from outer space come and wipe us out like bacteria, after all we're likely not intelligent life forms in their opinion. I'm not talking about 1950s dumb ass aliens who fly across the galaxy only to crash land near a random hillbilly town because they were assembling their anal probe equipment instead of keeping an eye on the flight instruments. I'm talking about the smart ones.
But i am not entirely helpless, i think i have a baseball bat lying around somewhere, a wooden one and i believe a metal one.
I got it long time ago, but i forgot what for, now i remember it was to prevent alien intelligence from experimenting with me.
If time should come to defend ourselves from such evil we can all meet en gang up to protect mother earth
maybe we will be able to pull of a Independence Day (nice movie, i have it on dvd)
But if it has to be, i'd rather be laserbeamed to oblivion in startrek style , then slowly whackedof as they do now in real life.

Trilarion: I guess I disagree with your disagreement here because I cannot image that one can release his hatred or desire in a harmless way that way, not the usual sane person at least.
Why not? Say you live in Iran and you're playing a concentration camp game. You're a perfectly normal person, who'd never do anything bad to anyone you know. Kind of like killing Nazis in games doesn't mean you're insane. Still, the point is, regardless of whether a person is insane, if they're only committing crimes in games then they've done nothing wrong.

I dont think its wrong to kill in games, as it is only 'pretend'. If a game has alot of mindless killing in it I just skip as its not my thing.
in fact lots of games have an 'evil' choice in their gameplay. however, I just cant play an evil character to save my life, I always end up being lawful good/helpful etc. In fact, in some games where I deliberately tried to go evil, I ended up restarting the game as it was just too opposite my normal persona to keep up. Sometimes in games even while playing good you have to make choices to kill and I try to go the lesser evil, if allowed, but mostly that choice isnt up to you.
I know friends who play a char in role playing games and dont stray from that role even if the game demands another action. lol lets just say they dont go far in end game that way (ex. playing vegetarian elf who doesnt hunt / kill animals)

See, this is the beauty of cats. No pretensions, just up front "I'm your superior and you better damned well serve me" attitude. Dog people just don't get it.

So what, you think that people playing Hared are homicidal maniacs and those who have sex with hookers then kill them in GTA would do that in real life?

I don't think cats would play Hatred. They would play AvP, though.
Wait, what are we talking about, already ?

No, because pixels. I can't play some games that are too bloody and the violence is overly gratuitous, but I'm well aware I'm not doing anything wrong in it. Just like I have a harder time playing the evil campaign or an evil character in some rpgs, but I don't judge anyone who prefers to play it that way. They're pixels.
The moment someone decides to bring their evil gaming experiences to real life, that's when it gets worrisome; but supposedly people have the common sense not to do that, right?

Killing people or things in games is as wrong as kids playing cops and robbers, or cowboys and "native Americans".

"I don't trust human beings. it's not a new thing, it goes back to far ago. In the schoolyard, during the recess, amongst pals, we used to play bluecoats exterminating indians. I don't trust human beings, we're not in favor of it but we tell ourselves : beh, I can't do anything about it, if evil triumphs more easily than good. There's always bluecoats killing indians."
