skynet464: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I cant think of any emotional games. :(
Of course you can't. Just like you can't name any 'Chick Flicks' or any Nicholas Sparks books.

RIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHHT! :P

genkicolleen: For some reason (?) it's hard to find men who play emotional games. :p"
I found this comment really weird. It made me wonder whether "emotional games" is a well-defined and restricted genre I'm not familiar with ... You know, like Visual Novels, only Emotional Games! Heh.

Nah, it's not well-defined as far I know, which is why the concept is addressed in the survey! :D
When you say male does This count?

I know it's a loose link to the thread but had to post the Austrian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest (which is a pile of crap btw)

marianne: I get veerrryy emotional. That isn't so-n-so out there helping Booker on that Command Deck, that isn't so-n-so hiding in that locker in Outlast, that isn't so-n-so running from that mad dog in Penumbra or so-n-so the crazy driver in Saint's Row-4...it's ME. I'm there. I get so wrapped up in that I become that person. I get tense, forget to breathe, cry, angry...Phew !! Before bed-time I have to find a caalllmm relaxing game or I'd be re-living my life in that game.
Well, as long as you don't become so-and-so the crazy driver from Saints Row in real life ... ;)
Done.
Always nice to have a chance to recommend The Cat Lady :)

That function returns undefined.

Well, let me tell you...that driving in that game is absolutely hysterical. I kidnapped a pick-up truck, (the game is set-up so that the cars don't drive toooo well), drove over the town pedestrians, blew out my four tires, tore of my doors, ruptured the gas mains, flew over a barricade, landed down below on a free-way going the wrong direction. When I flew up in the air after hitting the barricade, the screen flashed and said that I had just broken the air-borne height record for the game. I got to laughing so hard, I had to stop playing and gather myself back together.

LoboBlanco: Done, by the way if you didn't you should play "The Dig".
No, I haven't played it, but I've added it to my wishlist :) Thank you~!
BTW genkicolleen, while this thread seems to have been derailed I'm finding it to be one of the most fascinating on the forum right now.
Love games?

I'm all good with that XD I hope that everyone will stop for a minute and do the survey for my friend's friend, but I'm loving all of the feedback!

To the Moon definitely DOES fit into this category. I think that any game that draws you in enough to make you teary-eyed (or angry, or super-happy, etc) fits.
Eh...

I don't think I can really answer that survey to my satisfaction. I like a story that can engage my emotions and make me think, but I also don't like games that heavily emphasize "story," because that often comes at the cost of gameplay. The sorts of games that earn a lot of attention for being "emotional" also tend to be so in the most wretched ways.

Ditto "moral choices." On paper, it's a nice additional facet of gameplay. In practice, "choice and consequence" is usually ust another tacked-on bullet point.

I was just finished Aliens: Colonial Marines few days ago. I think it was very emotional despite being FPS with no particular romance options in it:

I was like FPODFUJLDKFJLKDUFOI)U?=)I(?¤%=#O)I?OJFLBVCBUVXC=)(XC?V)?GPOÖFDLKGHJKDGBHHJMDGHKIJDHJGKLJGHJDJKHGKJ DHGF=D)(F= )DIUFPDIFLKHJDKJFHDLKJUFDF()=?D(F=UDFKUHKFJHDKJFHKJDHFKJDHFKDFUFDUF=)(U#=)¤(U#=()UR# how they have managed to break both the game and canon in that.

It felt emotional.
Submitted.

Games I mentioned were Penumbra: Overture, both Amnesia's (TDD and AMFP), Primordia, and The Swapper.
