Talking about Games Collection. I just increased my GoG one by two. Phew, I made it to 150 (149) without a hiccup.

But who's counting? ;)

One was a freebie (Giveaway) advertised in the current sale.
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/preorder_sundered_jotun_giveaway_34c6c

And the other was from amongst the Sales items. I just so love Westerns, and there are far too few in the Game World.
https://www.gog.com/game/gun

I kept forgetting to check the game out, because generally I won't pay that much, but there are exceptions.
Anyway, I finally did check it out, looked at the images, read the reviews, and was convinced enough to give it a go, so bought it.

$8.99 is about the most I have paid here at GoG for a single game.

I will even pay a bit more for the right kind of game and its newness .... depending on desire of course.
Shadow Warrior 2 would be one such.

How about this?
Have you ever bought a game on sale, congratulating yourself on buying at that rather good discount rate, only to realise months and months later when the game is bundled, or another sale comes round with the game at a significantly deeper discount that you haven't even downloaded it, let alone played it?
Come on, let's see that forest of hands up from the Game Collectors! :P

Of course, except for the downloaded bit. I always download immediately. Perhaps you should change that to Installed.

But hey, nothing you can do about that, and it is not only true for games, but all sorts of things.

I am philosophical, and I say you choose to buy, when the moment is right for you, and that cost is only part of the considerations. There is availability ... and we have plenty of bad stories in the game world about that.

Nothing is guaranteed, so best to take advantage when you can ... at a fair price.

Who'd have thought that a game as popular as No One Lives Forever (and sequel), which won lots of awards, would be in the current state of limbo it is.

And from what I hear, there are plenty of others in the same boat, and going to continually be more.

P.S. I am not overly concerned about cheapest price ever. It is more important to me, that it be a fair price for all concerned.

P.S.S. A really cheap price, only really comes into play with me, for games that I like the sound of but are not sure about. Or maybe it is for one recommended to me, that I may normally have avoided for whatever reason.

Not downloaded, no, do that right away. Not even installed?
- Banished - Bought at 70%, was 75% later.
- Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition - Bought at 50%, was 80% later.
- King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY - Bought at 70%, was 80% later.
- Sacred Gold - Bought at 80%, was 85% later.

Not bad overall. Rather pissed at getting HK though, considering the regional pricing for their newer games and the promised but missing part 2 of Shadows.
So it seems i only once bought a game not being on discount that was my first game here when i joined. All other games are bough on discount lots of free games i notice in my order history.
Don't think i spended 200 euros for 109 games i have now. I actually just went through my order history and it's 153.99 eu i spent the whole time being here.
I am still waiting for chantelise going on discount though. If this doesn't happen till december i am gonna buy it full price then.Since it's a game i really want to play, because of recettear game i bought here when it was on discount.

In the meantime i play my games waiting for that game.

I am mostly the same.

I was drawn here after a comment about Shadow Warrior to a friend, who went looking for it, and found it here on GoG for free.

And even though I have the bought disc, and have completed the game years ago, and managed to get the mission packs for free elsewhere years ago (still not played), I felt I could not pass the opportunity to get the updated GoG version for free.

And now look at me, roughly 2 months later and 150 games in my library, all because of that Shadow Warrior Classic edition. Since then, I have also bought the Redux version and the 2013 remake.

The power of a freebie and a good game that I continually adore.

EDIT
And going back a bit further, the good old game Biosys, is what led me to this situation. It was developing an installer and frontend player for that game (getting it to run on XP, 7 & 10), and sharing that with my friend, that eventually led to me mentioning one of my other favorite games ... Shadow Warrior.

I created two TAGs, Completed and Played and assigned them to games. I moved Completed up so it shows when both are selected. I was careful this time and tagged games I installed and played more than 10 minutes as Played. Afterwards, it was easy to count with filtering.

So, my Completed/Played/Total numbers are: 44/146/540

*Sheepishly puts hand up*

This is one of the reasons I think about my purchases before pressing the buy button now. Hell, I bought Shadow Warrior for 60% off only or it to become free a few months later...

However, some games I bought that have been on sale that were cheaper in later sales but the difference is they were sales where you got XP and could unlock free games, games that i did have interest in so I don't care much about spending a little more there :P

Back on topic, here's my stats for this thread

My GOG library is currently at 262 games and I'm not using any other service. Here's the breakdown

Backlogged = 12 games (1 nearing completion)
Unplayed freebies or bundled = 49 games
Put on hold because of tech problems = 3 games
Unplayed demos = 9 games
Rage quit = 5 games
COMPLETED= 184 games

After watching my backlog almost climb into the 70's 3 years ago, I decided I should try playing the games instead of buying more. Even though I have had quite a few impulse purchases since, I've still been able to keep the backlog down to a very manageable 12 games. The game nearing completion is Super Hexagon, but I'm having trouble beating 22:14 seconds on Hardestestest. I'm probably going to put that game aside for now and start Psychonauts instead :)

I still intend to at least try some of the freebies but I know there's a few games there I really don't care much about. That list may never reach 0. I'm also not putting much priority on the demos.

However, with 189 games finished. I don't think I've been doing too badly ;)
Huge backlog here but I don't really care. I've had less money the last few years so I purchased fewer games but as long as you have money to pay bills and food etc. then I don't see a problem with a backlog. I do have to say that if I could go back 20 years then I would buy one game at a time and play it to near completion. But a backlog doesn't bother me at all.
